Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES OF NEW ENGLAND, INC.(RMHC NE) DEVELOPS, SUPPORTS AND PROVIDES PROGRAMS THAT DIRECTLY IMPROVE THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
THE PROGRAMS RMHC NE OFFERS INCLUDE TWO HOUSES: RMH PROVIDENCE AND RMH BOSTON HARBOR, OUR TWO RM FAMILY ROOMS (ONE AT HASBRO CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL IN PROVIDENCE, RI, AND ONE AT MASS GENERAL HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN IN BOSTON, MA), AND OUR TWO RM CARE MOBILES (ONE IN RHODE ISLAND AND ONE IN WORCESTER, MA). THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSES PROVIDE A "HOME" ALLOWING FAMILIES TO EAT, SLEEP AND FIND THE EMOTIONAL SUPPORT THEY NEED TO CENTER THEIR ENERGY ON THEIR SICK CHILD. FAMILIES ARE PROVIDED WITH CLEAN, PRIVATE AND PROXIMATE ACCOMODATIONS ALLOWING THEM TO FOCUS ON THEIR CHILD'S CARE. WE SUGGEST A $10 PER NIGHT CONTRIBUTION FROM FAMILIES; HOWEVER, NO FAMILIY IS EVER TURNED AWAY IF THEY ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE THAT CONTRIBUTION. THIS LESSENS THE FINANCIAL BURDEN ASSOCIATED WITH HAVING A CRITICALLY ILL CHILD. THE RMFMS REPLICATE A HOME-LIKE ATMOSPHERE WHEN A PARENT NEEDS A BREAK FROM THE "HOSPITAL ENVIRONMENT". OUR FAMILY ROOMS, LOCATED WITHIN THE HOSPITALS ARE EQUIPPED WITH CONVENIENCES SUCH AS A KITCHEN, LAUNDRY FACILITIES, INTERNET ACCESS, AND PROVIDE CONFORTABLE AND COMFORTING PLACES OF RESPITE FOR PATIENTS' FAMILIES. THE RMCM IN WORCESTER, MA PROVIDES MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE TO CHILDREN WITH UNMET HEALTHCARE NEEDS, AND THE RMCM IN RHODE ISLAND (ALSO KNOWN AS "THE MOLAR EXPRESS") PROVIDES DENTAL CARE TO CHILDREN IN LOCAL COMMUNITIES. STAFFED WITH PEDIATRIC SPECIALISTS, THE RMCMS PROVIDE COST-EFFECTIVE, HIGH-QUALITY MEDICAL, DENTAL AND HEALTH EDUCATION SERVICES TO UNDER-SERVED CHILDREN IN RURAL AND URBAN AREAS IN EASTERN NEW ENGLAND.
