THESE FREE 40, 60, OR 90-MINUTE PRESENTATIONS PROVIDE A PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE OF MENTAL HEALTH CONDITIONS, AS LEADERS WITH LIVED EXPERIENCE TALK OPENLY ABOUT WHAT IT'S LIKE TO HAVE A MENTAL HEALTH CONDITION.
YEAR-ROUND, FAMILY MEMBER-LED SUPPORT GROUPS FOR FAMILY MEMBERS, FRIENDS, AND PARTNERS OF INDIVIDUALS LIVING WITH A MENTAL HEALTH CONDITION. GROUPS OFFER SUPPORT, INFORMATION, AND RESOURCES.
FAMILY SUPPORT PARTNER SERVICES PROVIDES PEER EDUCATION AND SUPPORT TO FAMILIES OF YOUTH LIVING WITH A MENTAL HEALTH, SUBSTANCE USE AND/OR DEVELOPMENTAL CONDITION. THEY SUPPORT YOUTH AND FAMILY VOICE AND CHOICE AND HELP FAMILIES DEVELOP SKILLS INCLUDING RESILIENCY, SELF-CARE, AND SELF-ADVOCACY.
NAMI PEER-TO-PEER CLASSESNAMI PEER-TO-PEER IS A FREE 12-HOUR, 8-SESSION EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR ADULTS LIVING WITH A MENTAL HEALTH CONDITION. TAUGHT BY NAMI-TRAINED VOLUNTEERS WHO HAVE LIVED EXPERIENCE WITH A MENTAL HEALTH CONDITION, THIS CLASS INCLUDES ACTIVITIES, DISCUSSION, AND INFORMATIVE VIDEOS. HOWEVER, AS WITH ALL NAMI PROGRAMS, IT DOES NOT INCLUDE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR TREATMENT APPROACHES. NAMI FAMILY-TO-FAMILY CLASSESNAMI FAMILY-TO-FAMILY IS A FREE 20-HOUR, 8-SESSION EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR FAMILY MEMBERS, PARTNERS, AND FRIENDS OF INDIVIDUALS LIVING WITH A MENTAL HEALTH CONDITION. IT IS A DESIGNATED EVIDENCE-BASED PROGRAM, WHICH MEANS RESEARCH SHOWS THE PROGRAM SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVES COPING AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITIES OF PEOPLE CLOSEST TO A PERSON WITH A MENTAL HEALTH CONDITION.NAMI ENDING THE SILENCEENDING THE SILENCE IS A 50-MINUTE PRESENTATION FOR MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL-AGED YOUTH AND TEENS, FAMILIES, OR STAFF. FAMILY MEMBERS AND YOUNG ADULTS PROVIDE MENTAL HEALTH EDUCATION AND SHARE THEIR PERSONAL EXPERIENCES TO RAISE AWARENESS AND SPREAD HOPE.NAMI CONNECTION RECOVERY SUPPORT GROUPNAMI NORTHERN VIRGINIA OFFERS PEER SUPPORT GROUPS FOR ADULTS (AGE 18+) LIVING WITH MENTAL HEALTH CONDITIONS. THESE PEER SUPPORT GROUPS PROVIDE A SAFE, JUDGEMENT FREE, AND CONFIDENTIAL ENVIRONMENT FOR ATTENDEES TO SHARE THEIR STORIES, LEARN FROM ONE ANOTHER, AND OFFER AND RECEIVE SUPPORT FROM OTHERS WITH SIMILAR LIVED EXPERIENCES.MONTHLY MEETINGMEMBERS, FRIENDS, AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS MEET MONTHLY TO HEAR GUEST SPEAKERS, LEARN ABOUT OUR PROGRAMS, AND GAIN INFORMATION ABOUT TOPICAL MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES.
