CONSERVATION GRANTS TO SUPPORT THE BRANDYWINE ZOO'S MISSION TO PROTECT SPECIES AND THEIR HABITATS IN DELAWARE AND AROUND THE WORLD.
VISITOR SERVICES, INCLUDING ADMISSIONS TO THE ZOO, GIFT SHOP AND FOOD CONCESSION. 2021 SAW A RESOUNDING REBOUND FROM 2020. WE GREETED A TOTAL OF 55,462 GUESTS WHICH IS THE HIGHEST ATTENDANCE TOTAL WE'VE WELCOMED SINCE 2016. WE INTRODUCED A NEW EVENING SERIES (SIP AND STROLL) WHICH FAR EXCEEDED OUR PROJECTIONS. OUR MAJOR CHILDREN'S EVENTS (BOO AT THE ZOO AND PICTURES WITH SANTA) ALSO REACHED THE HIGHEST ATTENDANCE TOTALS IN YEARS. GIFT SHOP AND CONCESSION SALES ALSO EXCEEDED PROJECTIONS. A NEW MEMBERSHIP OFFER INTRODUCED IN LATE 2021 (4 FREE GUEST PASSES TO THE DELAWARE CHILDREN'S MUSEUM WITH A NEW OR RENEWING HOUSEHOLD MEMBERSHIP) HELPED TAKE US TO 931 MEMBERSHIPS (THE HIGHEST TOTAL WE'VE SEEN SINCE 2015).
COMPREHENSIVE CONSERVATION EDUCATION PROGRAMS. 2021 ALSO SAW A REBOUND IN MANY OF OUR EDUCATION PROGRAMS. COVID-RELATED RESTRICTIONS WERE STILL IN PLACE IN 2021 FOR MANY OF OUR EDUCATION PROGRAMS, BUT WE WERE STILL ABLE TO RUN 16 CAMPS (171 CAMPERS), 33 EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS (113 GUESTS), AND 17 SCOUT PROGRAMS (349 ATTENDEES). OUR VIRTUAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS REMAINED STRONG - 82 VIRTUAL ZOO PROGRAMS REACHING 7,356 GUESTS. OUR TRAVELING ZOO ALSO HAD A NICE BOUNCE BACK. WE WERE ABLE TO SCHEDULE 20 PROGRAMS, REACHING 1,896 KIDS.
