FUNDS FOR SUMMER READING SUPPORTED READERS OF ALL AGES, ENGAGING THEM DURING SUMMER TO PROVIDE LEARNING, ENJOYMENT AND COMMUNITY.
E-BOOKS AND E-AUDIO BOOKS WERE IN INCREASED DEMAND BY OUR COMMUNITY CAUSED BY THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND REDUCED PHYSICAL MATERIAL DISTRIBUTION. SENIORS NOW HAVE ACCESS TO MANY TITLES VIA E-BOOKS AND CAN SET THE FONT SIZE AS LARGE AS NECESSARY OR LISTEN TO AN EVER EXPANDING LIST OF E-AUDIO BOOKS. CUSTOMERS OF ALL AGES INCREASED THEIR DIGITAL ACCESSIBILITY.
BLOCK PLAY - RESEARCH HAS PROVEN THAT CHILDREN ARE BETTER PREPARED TO LEARN MATH, LITERACY, SCIENCE, AND SOCIAL EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT (JUST SOME OF THE VITAL BENEFITS FOR HEALTHY, GROWING CHILDREN) WHEN THEY BUILD WITH BLOCKS. THE FOUNDATION PURCHASES BLOCKS AND ACTIVITY BOOKS TO GIVE AWAY TO CHILDREN AND THEIR CAREGIVERS FOR THIS IMPORTANT PROGRAM.
THE PIERCE COUNTY LIBRARY FOUNDATION PROVIDED FUNDS TO SUPPORT VARIOUS LIBRARY PROGRAMS WITH EXPENSES FOR BOOKS, RESOURCES, TUITION ASSISTANCE, IMPROVEMENTS TO BRANCHES IN PARKLAND/SPANAWAY, GIG HARBOR, AND OTHER LIBRARY BRANCHES, AND THE ABILITY TO OFFER GIFTS AND ENTERTAINMENT PASSES AS PRIZES FOR LIBRARY PROGRAMS.
