Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3
GRANGER HOUSE & MUSEUM: A WONDERFUL EXAMPLE OF VICTORIAN ITALIANATE ARCHITECTURE, THE GRANGER HOUSE MUSEUM IS THE ONLY RESTORED MIDDLE-CLASS FAMILY HOME IN THE CEDAR RAPIDS AREA. OCCUPIED BY THE GRANGERS FOR NEARLY 100 YEARS, THE HOUSE CONTAINS MANY OF ITS ORIGINAL FURNISHINGS AND IS ARRANGED TO REFLECT THE LIFESTYLE OF A SUCCESSFUL, LATE 19TH-CENTURY MIDDLE-CLASS FAMILY. BEHIND THE HOME IS A BRICK CARRIAGE HOUSE, THE ONLY ONE OF ITS KIND IN THE MIDWEST, THAT CONTAINS A VARIETY OF ARTIFACTS REVEALING THE OWNERS INVOLVEMENT WITH MORGAN HORSES, DAIRYING, AND FARMING. MUSEUM VOLUNTEERS USE THE BUILDINGS AND STORY OF THE GRANGER FAMILY TO INFORM VISITORS ABOUT LIFE DURING THE VICTORIAN ERA NOT ONLY IN MARION, IOWA, BUT ALSO IN THE MIDWEST AND NATION. EACH YEAR, MORE THAN 1,000 PEOPLE OF ALL AGES TOUR THE PROPERTY, AND MANY OF THEM ALSO ATTEND CONCERTS, THEATRICAL PERFORMANCES, AND OTHER PROGRAMS TO LEARN ABOUT THEIR HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL HERITAGE.
