THE ORGANIZATION IS A NONDENOMINATIONAL CHRISTIAN NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION WHOSE PURPOSE IS TO CREATE DECENT, AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR THOSE IN NEED, AND TO MAKE DECENT SHELTER A MATTER OF CONSCIENCE WITH PEOPLE EVERYWHERE.

LAWRENCE HABITAT FOR HUMANITY BUILDS AND/OR RENOVATES AFFORDABLE HOUSES WITH PROFESSIONAL QUALITY WORK AND VOLUNTEER LABOR. THE HOMES ARE SOLD TO LOW-INCOME FAMILIES THAT MEET CERTAIN INCOME GUIDELINES AND COMPLETE AN APPLICATION PROCESS.
THE RESTORE SELLS NEW AND GENTLY USED BUILDING SUPPLIES, HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES, FIXTURES AND FURNISHINGS, FOR THE PURPOSE OF RAISING FUNDS TO EXPAND HOME BUILDING CAPACITY.
SEVERAL HABITAT AFFILIATES IN KANSAS CAME TOGETHER TO REQUEST A GRANT FROM THE KANSAS HOUSING RESOURCE CORPORATION. WE WERE SUCCESSFUL AND THE FUNDS WERE AWARDED TO LAWRENCE HABITAT FOR HUMANITY, WHO SERVES AS THE FISCAL AGENT. THE GOAL OF THE FUNDS WERE/ARE TO INCREASE THE CAPACITY OF STATE- WIDE KANSAS HABITAT AFFILIATES AND IN TURN, INCREASE AFFORDABLE HOUSING OPTIONS FOR KANSANS. IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE THIS GOAL, WE AGREED TO HIRE A STATEWIDE COORDINATOR/DIRECTOR AND THAT THE FUNDS WOULD BE USED IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS: INCREASE HABITAT SERVICE AREAS STANDARDIZE OPERATIONS CREATE AND CARRY OUT A STATEWIDE DISASTER RESPONSE PLAN ACHIEVE COST SAVINGS AND EFFICIENCY OF SCALE FOR ALL AFFILIATES CREATE A COLLABORATIVE FUNDRAISING PLAN, ALLOWING ACCESS TO LARGE GRANTS AND PROGRAMS.
