OUR HISTORY / SERVICES / MISSION THE SISTERS OF CHARITY OF LEAVENWORTH FOUNDED MARIAN CLINIC IN TOPEKA, KANSAS IN 1988 AS A UNIQUE RESPONSE TO DOCUMENTED NEED FOR MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE FOR THE UNINSURED IN OUR COMMUNITY. THE DENTAL CLINIC PROVIDES HIGH-QUALITY, PATIENT-CENTERED, COMPLETE DENTAL CARE FOR THE UNINSURED, UNDERINSURED, AND THOSE WITH NO DENTAL HOME. REALIZING THAT ORAL HEALTH IS DIRECTLY CONNECTED TO OVERALL HEALTH, DIABETES, STROKE, HEART DISEASE, PNEUMONIA, MENTAL HEALTH, AND MISSED DAYS OF WORK/SCHOOL, THE MARIAN CLINIC BEGAN ITS DENTAL SERVICES IN 1989 TO HELP WITH UNMET NEEDS IN THE COMMUNITY. THE DENTAL SERVICES HAVE EVOLVED OVER THE YEARS AND BECOME MORE COMPREHENSIVE TO INCLUDE SERVICES SIMILAR TO THOSE IN PRIVATE PRACTICE DENTISTRY.
