THE VFW HAS SUCCESSFULLY FULFILLED AND CONTINUES TO TO FULFILL ITS MISSION AS STATED IN OUR CONGRESSIONAL CHARTER, "TO ASSIST WORTHY COMRADES; TO PERPETUATE THE MEMORY AND HISTORY OF OUR DEAD, TO ASSIST THEIR WIDOWS AND ORPHANS; TO MAINTAIN TRUE ALLEGIANCE TO THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES, FIDELITY TO ITS CONSTITUTION AND LAWS; AND TO FOSTER TRUE PATRIOTISM." AT THE ORGANIZATIONAL LEVEL WE HAVE ADOPTED MILITARY UNITS, PROVIDING SUPPORT TO THE VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES, IN ADDITION TO SUPPORTING ALL VETERANS AND FAMILIES. THROUGH OUR COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAMS WE HELP THE HOMELESS AND THEIR SUPPORTING SERVICES IN OUR COMMUNITY.

VFW NATIONAL MILITARY SERVICES THE SUCCESSFUL PROGRAMS OF THE VFW UNMET NEEDS AND THE MILITARY ASSIISTANCE PROGRAM (MAP) THESE INITIATIVES MAKE AN INCREDIBLE DIFFERENCE FOR OUR COMBAT VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES. NATIONALLY OVER 3.5 MILLION IN GRANTS ARE ISSUED TO VETERANS IN NEED.


THE VFW TROOP SUPPORT PROGRAM IS HIGHLIGHTED BY OUR PARTNERSHIPS WITH ACTIVE DUTY, RESERVE COMPONENTS AND NATIONAL GUARD UNITS IN THE GREATER KC METRO AREA WITH THEIR FAMILY READINESS PROGRAMS. EVENTS INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO RECOGNITIONS CEREMONIES, ORGANIZATIONAL DAY ACTIVITIES, WELCOME HOME FROM DEPLOYMENTS AND SUPPORT OF GOLD STAR FAMILIES.


THE VFW COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAMS ENCOMPASS SCHOLARSHIPS FOR FOR MIDDLE THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL YOUTHS THROUGH VOICE OF DEMOCRACY (VOD) AND PATRIOTS PEN (PP). WE ALSO RECOGNIZE EXCELLENCE IN SCOUTING, TEACHING AND LAW ENFORCEMENT THROUGH OUR SCOUTING, TEACHER AND LEO OF THE YEAR PROGRAMS.
