LEADERSHIP SOUTH BEND/MISHAWAKA'S MISSION IS TO DEVELOP THE CAPACITY AND COMMITMENT OF PEOPLE TO RECOGNIZE, UNDERSTAND AND RESPOND TO THEIR COMMUNITY'S TRUSTEESHIP NEEDS THROUGH CIVIC EDUCATION, SKILL BUILDING AND COMMUNITY SERVICE.

THE SIGNATURE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM COMMENCES IN EARLY SEPTEMBER WITH AN ORIENTATION. PARTICIPANTS THEN EXPERIENCE TEAM-BUILDING EXERCISES WHILE STUDYING VARIOUS LEADERSHIP STYLES DURING A MANDATORY TWO-DAY RETREAT IN SEPTEMBER. THE PROGRAM CONTINUES WITH EIGHT INDIVIDUAL PROGRAM DAYS (ONE PER MONTH) LEADING UP TO GRADUATION CEREMONIES IN MAY. THROUGHOUT THE NINE-MONTH PROGRAM, PARTICIPANTS GAIN VALUABLE EXPOSURE TO COMMUNITY LEADERS, PROGRAMS AND SERVICE INITIATIVES, WHILE ENGAGING IN INTERACTIVE ASSIGNMENTS, WHICH RAISE COMMUNITY AWARENESS AND ACTION. THIS INCLUDES INVOLVEMENT IN ASSIGNED TASK GROUPS, WHICH INVESTIGATE LONG-TERM COMMUNITY GOALS, STRATEGIES AND PLANNING OBJECTIVES.
YOUTH LEADERSHIP SOUTH BEND/MISHAWAKA IS A DYNAMIC AND INTENSIVE STUDENT LEADERSHIP PROGRAM WHICH OFFERS AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY FOR PARTICIPANTS TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THEMSELVES AS WELL AS THEIR OWN COMMUNITY. OUR MISSION IS TO DEVELOP THE CAPACITY AND COMMITMENT OF PEOPLE TO RECOGNIZE, UNDERSTAND, AND RESPOND TO THEIR COMMUNITY'S TRUSTEESHIP NEEDS-THROUGH CIVIC EDUCATION, SKILL BUILDING, AND SERVICE.IN YOUTH LEADERSHIP, WE ARE DEDICATED TO CULTIVATING "TOMORROW'S LEADERS" TODAY. THROUGH A SERIES OF ENGAGING PROGRAM DAYS USING THE COMMUNITY AS OUR CLASSROOM, PARTICIPANTS LEARN LEADERSHIP SKILLS, SERVANT LEADERSHIP, COMMUNITY AWARENESS, AND ENGAGE IN DIALOGUE ABOUT ISSUES FACING OUR COMMUNITY. PERSONAL GROWTH IS ALSO EXPERIENCED AS WE WORK WITH PARTICIPANTS TO CULTIVATE CONFIDENCE AND SELF-ESTEEM, CITIZENSHIP, SENSITIVITY TO DIVERSITY, PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, AND A SENSE OF LIFELONG LEARNING.
THE EMERGING LEADERS PROGRAM IS A PROGRAM TO DEVELOP YOUNG EMPLOYEES' CAPACITY AND POTENTIAL FOR FUTURE LEADERSHIP SUCCESSES. THE SERIES WILL EQUIP YOUNG PROFESSIONALS WITH FOUNDATIONAL LEADERSHIP SKILLS AND TOOLS TO ACHIEVE POSITIVE INTERACTIONS IN THE WORKPLACE AND IN THE COMMUNITY. PARTICIPANTS WILL LEARN SELF-AWARENESS, COLLABORATION AND TEAMWORK, WORKPLACE DECORUM, CRITICAL THINKING AND PROBLEM SOLVING, AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT AND SERVICE. THE PROGRAM SERIES IS FIVE HALF-DAY SESSIONS OVER A FIVE WEEK PERIOD.
