EDUCATION & HEALTH: NEW INITIATIVES WITH OUR REFUGEE-LED PARTNERS ASSISTED 32,661 REFUGEES, INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS (IDPS) AND OTHER CONFLICT-AFFECTED PERSONS. WITH MALNUTRITION RISING, WE SUPPORTED OUR TURKEY-BASED PARTNER TO CONTINUE COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT OF ACUTE MALNUTRITION & IYCF-E FOR 30,916 CHILDREN UNDER 5 AND PREGNANT AND LACTATING WOMEN IN THE IDP CAMPS AND VILLAGES IN NORTHWEST SYRIA. COMMUNITY COVID-19 EDUCATION TOOK PLACE AMONG 15,897 DISPLACED SYRIANS IN NW SYRIA AND ARSAL & CENTRAL BEKAA VALLEY, LEBANON. NON-FORMAL PRIMARY EDUCATION CONTINUED FOR OUT-OF-SCHOOL SYRIAN REFUGEE CHILDREN AT 6 PARTNER-RUN CENTERS IN TENTED SETTLEMENTS WITH FUNDING TRANSITIONING FROM DONATIONS TO (SELF-RELIANCE) PROGRAM REVENUE FOR SUSTAINABILITY. FAMILIES WERE COUNSELED ON THE IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATING GIRLS AND CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES (PWD), AMONG OTHER CHILD PROTECTION ISSUES BELOW.
PROTECTION & SELF-RELIANCE: WE EXPANDED JOINTLY DESIGNED PROJECTS WITH OUR GRASSROOTS PARTNERS, ASSISTING 5,218 DISPLACED SYRIANS AND VULNERABLE LEBANESE. WITH OUR OVERSIGHT AND SUPPORT, THESE PROJECTS TRAINED SINGLE REFUGEE MOTHERS IN PRODUCING SOAP, CROCHETED TOYS, DCOR, AND UPCYCLED BAGS AND DISTRIBUTED FREE SOAP TO 3,336 IDPS IN NW SYRIA. 260+ DISPLACED SYRIANS, PRIMARILY WOMEN IN THE CAMPS OF NW SYRIA, LEBANON, AND URBAN TURKEY, RECEIVED CASH-FOR-WORK OR PARTNER-LED SKILLS TRAINING, TRAINEE STIPENDS AND IN-KIND PRODUCTION KITS. RPI BROUGHT THEIR REFUGEE-MADE PRODUCTS TO THE US MARKET TO EXPAND THIS WOMENS EMPOWERMENT PROJECT. 622 SYRIAN REFUGEE WOMEN IN 26 TEMP. SETTLEMENTS WERE COUNSELED ON OBTAINING BIRTH CERTIFICATES FOR CHILDREN BORN IN LEBANON TO FACILITATE THEIR ACCESS TO SCHOOL AND SERVICES. CERTIFICATE FEES AND APPLICATIONS WERE FULLY SUPPORTED FOR 77 VULNERABLE GIRLS.
HOUSING CONDITIONS: WE COLLABORATED WITH OUR ONSITE REFUGEE-LED PARTNERS TO IMPROVE SHELTER CONDITIONS AMONG 2,400 IDPS. RAPID RESPONSE PROJECTS IMPLEMENTED IN 8 INFORMAL TENTED CAMPS IN NORTHWEST SYRIA BY OUR TURKEY-BASED PARTNERS EQUIPPED IDP FAMILIES WITH HEATERS (STOVES) AND ECO-FRIENDLY FUEL (COMPRESSED OLIVE WASTE) FOR HEATING, WASHING, AND COOKING. TO REDUCE HOUSING EVICTION AMONG SYRIAN REFUGEE WOMEN AND CHILDREN IN ANTAKYA, TURKEY, RPI BROUGHT TO THE US MARKET PRODUCTS MADE BY THE REFUGEE TENANTS THANKS TO A PARTNER-LED SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAM CO-DESIGNED WITH RPIS SELF-RELIANCE PROGRAM. IN ADDITION TO OVERSEEING REFUGEE-LED PROJECTS UNDER OUR 3 PROGRAM AREAS, WE MENTOR OUR GRASSROOTS PARTNERS IN RIGHTS-BASED PROJECT DESIGN, PROPOSAL WRITING, MONITORING, AND REPORTING, PENDING PARTNER INTERESTS AND NEEDS.
