SMALL DEVELOPER BOOT CAMP THE BOOT CAMP OFFERS APPLIED KNOWLEDGE CURRICULUM AND ONE-ON-ONE SUPPORT TO PARTICIPANTS WHO HAVE AN ACTUAL PROJECT THEY ARE WORKING ON THROUGHOUT THE DURATION OF THE CLASS (EITHER PROPERTY THEY CONTROL OR ARE EVALUATING FOR ACQUISITION). FOR THE 2021 FISCAL YEAR, WE HELD FOUR BOOT CAMPS. THERE WERE 39 PARTICIPANTS IN NEW HAMPSHIRE, 34 PARTICIPANTS IN TUCSON, AZ, 19 PARTICIPANTS IN WAKEFIELD, NE, AND 20 PARTICIPANTS IN FRESNO, CA. SMALL DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR (INTRODUCTION TO INCREMENTAL DEVELOPMENT) SMALL SCALE, INCREMENTAL DEVELOPMENT IS A TESTED APPROACH TO COST-EFFECTIVELY PRESERVING EXISTING BUILDINGS, STRENGTHENING THEIR BLOCKS, AND IMPROVING THE FINANCIAL FUNDAMENTALS OF THEIR CONTEXTS OVER TIME. SESSION PARTICIPANTS GET AN OVERVIEW OF WHAT INCREMENTAL DEVELOPMENT IS--THE APPROACH, THE PRACTICE AND ITS APPLICATION TO COMMON BUILDING TYPES AND NEIGHBORHOODS. FOR THE 2021 FISCAL YEAR, WE PRESENTED THREE OF THESE SEMINARS. THERE WERE 81 PARTICIPANTS IN GRAND RAPIDS, MI, 71 PARTICIPANTS IN THE STATE OF VERMONT AND 107 PARTICIPANTS IN FRESNO, CA.
SMALL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP/CONFERENCE TRAINING SMALL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS AND CONFERENCE TRAINING SESSION PARTICIPANTS GET AN OVERVIEW OF WHAT INCREMENTAL DEVELOPMENT IS--THE APPROACH, THE PRACTICE AND ITS APPLICATION TO COMMON BUILDING TYPES AND NEIGHBORHOODS. DEEPENING SESSION PARTICIPANTS' UNDERSTANDING OF HOW TO HANDLE SITE CHALLENGES, FACULTY LEAD A HANDS-ON SITE PLANNING AND PRO FORMA EXERCISE TO LAY OUT A BUILDING ON A SITE BY APPLYING A SAMPLE ZONING CODE. CONFERENCE TRAINING OFFERINGS ARE TYPICALLY TAILORED TO THE SPECIFIC NEEDS OF THE AUDIENCE AND PARTICIPANTS.
