GREATER LOS ANGELES EDUCATION FOUNDATION (GLA) IS THE PREMIER PHILANTHROPIC PARTNER OF THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION (LACOE). GLA IS DEDICATED TO PROVIDING RESOURCES TO LACOE AS IT SERVES STUDENTS, SUPPORTS COMMUNITIES, AND LEADS EDUCATORS. GLA WORKS WITH SCHOOL DISTRICTS AND OTHER PARTNERS TO COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION (LACOE) AS IT SERVES STUDENTS, SUPPORTSCOMMUNITIES, AND LEADS EDUCATORS.

PROGRAMMATIC WORK-THE FOUNDATION SECURED GRANT FUNDING TO SUPPORT A NUMBER OF PROGRAMMATIC ENDEAVORS. THIS INCLUDED RECEIVING A MULTI-YEAR COMMITMENT TO EXPAND COMMUNITY SCHOOLS ACROSS CALIFORNIA; INCREASE THE NUMBER OF HIGH-QUALITY COMMUNITY SCHOOLS IN LA COUNTY; POSITION LACOE TO SERVE AS A TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROVIDER TO SCHOOLS, DISTRICTS OR LEAS, AND OTHER COUNTY OFFICES OF EDUCATION ACROSS CA TO ADOPT THE MODEL IN NEW GEOGRAPHIES; AND DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT AN ADVOCACY STRATEGY FOR STATE AND FEDERAL POLICY TO SUPPORT ONGOING TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, SUSTAINABILITY AND EXPANSION OF COMMUNITY SCHOOLS.


LEADERSHIP PROGRAMSFUNDS IN THIS CATEGORY ARE SPECIFIC TO ACTIVITIES FOR LACOE'S LEADERSHIP AND OBJECTIVES. FOR EXAMPLE, FUNDS ARE USED ANNUALLY FOR LACOE'S SUPERINTENDENT'S PROFESSIONAL COLLABORATIVE CONFERENCE. RECOGNITION/SCHOLARSHIPSFUNDS SUPPORT LACOE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS TO RECOGNIZE STUDENTS AND TO SUPPORT THOSE PURSUING POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION AND TRAINING. PROGRAMS INCLUDE THE MIGRANT EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS AND THE BILINGUAL DIRECTORS' SCHOLARSHIPS.


THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED SUPPORT FOR, AMONG OTHER THINGS, THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE PATHWAY TO PROFICIENCY: IMPLEMENTING THE ENGLISH LEARNER ROADMAP IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY AND THE DEVELOPING COMMUNITY SCHOOLS IN LOS ANGELES: A TOOLKIT FOR SCHOOL AND DISTRICT LEADERS, AND LACOE'S COMMUNITY SCHOOLS WEBSITE DESIGN.


IN FULFILLMENT OF ITS ROLE AS LACOE'S PREMIER PHILANTHROPIC PARTNER, THE FOUNDATION RAISED AND COLLECTED FUNDS TO SUPPORT LACOE EVENTS FOR STUDENTS, TEACHERS, ADMINISTRATORS, AND EDUCATION LEADERS, FOR EXAMPLE, TEACHER OF THE YEAR AND ACADEMIC DECATHLON.
