COMMUNITY STRENGTHENING:THE TRUST, WORKING CLOSELY WITH LOCAL STAKEHOLDER GROUPS, ENCOURAGES COMMUNITY EFFORTS TO PROMOTE INVESTMENT AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN NEIGHBORHOODS ALONG THE ANACOSTIA RIVER. THE TRUST ENCOURAGES INCLUSIVE EFFORTS TO CREATE JOBS, PROMOTE HEALTH AND STRENGTHEN COMMUNITIES. THE TRUST PLACES SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON ADDRESSING ISSUES FACING DISADVANTAGED NEIGHBORHOODS EAST OF THE RIVER.


RIVER RESTORATION:THE TRUST WAS ESTABLISHED TO BE A LEADER IN EFFORTS TO REDUCE STORMWATER RUNOFF AND ELIMINATE TOXIC CHEMICALS FROM THE ANACOSTIA RIVER. RESTORING THE RIVER'S HEALTH IS THE FIRST STEP IN TRANSFORMING IT INTO A NATURAL AND RECREATIONAL ASSET FOR RESIDENTS AND VISITORS ALIKE. THE TRUST IS SPEARHEADING EFFORTS THAT WILL ALLOW FOR THE SAFE AND HEALTHY ENJOYMENT OF THE ANACOSTIA RIVER.
