THE TRUST ENCOURAGES INCLUSIVE EFFORTS TO CREATE JOBS, PROMOTE HEALTH AND STRENGTHEN COMMUNITIES. THE TRUST PLACES SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON ADDRESSING ISSUES FACING DISADVANTAGED NEIGHBORHOODS EAST OF THE RIVER.
RIVER RESTORATION:THE TRUST WAS ESTABLISHED TO BE A LEADER IN EFFORTS TO REDUCE STORMWATER RUNOFF AND ELIMINATE TOXIC CHEMICALS FROM THE ANACOSTIA RIVER. RESTORING THE RIVER'S HEALTH IS THE FIRST STEP IN TRANSFORMING IT INTO A NATURAL AND RECREATIONAL ASSET FOR RESIDENTS AND VISITORS ALIKE.
