TO ADVANCE WATER SECURITY BY UNDERSTANDING, EVALUATING AND INNOVATING IN WATER LAW AND GOVERNANCE.

THE RENEWAL PLATFORM IS THE FIRST WASH AND WATER SECURITY LAW PLATFORM FOR AFRICA. THE RENEWAL PLATFORM WAS LAUNCHED IN 2020, AND WAS ACCOMPANIED BY OUTREACH AND EDUCATION EFFORTS AND A CONTINUED STREAMLINING OF THE ONLINE PLATFORM TO MAKE IT MORE USER-FRIENDLY AND ACCESSIBLE. WORK ON RENEWAL ALSO INCLUDED A GREATER FOCUS ON THE LAUNCH AND SUBSEQUENT IMPLEMENTATION OF THE AFRICA SANITATION POLICY GUIDELINES, WHICH CWSC CO-LED WITH THE AFRICAN MINISTERS' COUNCIL ON WATER AND THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION.


THE BUILDING LEGAL UNDERSTANDING AND ENGAGEMENT (BLUE) PHONE PROGRAM PROVIDED TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND EDUCATION ON WATER RESOURCE MANAGEMENT, INTERNATIONAL WATER LAW, INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL LAW, HUMAN RIGHTS, INTERNATIONAL WATER DIPLOMACY, AND WATER AND SANITATION LAW IN COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD, INCLUDING IN SENEGAL, ZAMBIA, EL SALVADOR, AND SOUTH SUDAN.


THE DELIVERING RESOURCES THROUGH INFRASTRUCTURE TO THE NEEDIEST CITIZENS (DRINC) PROGRAM DEVELOPED A WHITE PAPER ON ACCESS TO WATER AS WELL AS THE METHODOLOGICAL APPROACH FOR MEASURING WATER ACCESS IN THE UNITED STATES IN THE AMERICAN WATER ACCESS SURVEY (AWAS), INCLUDING HOUSEHOLD AND UTILITY SURVEYS AND REVIEWS. THE PROGRAM ALSO RESEARCHED THE IMPACT THAT PUBLIC UTILITY COMMISSIONS HAVE ON PUBLIC UTILITY REGULATION. THIS PROGRAM ALSO CONTINUED EXISTING WORK ON UNDERSTANDING THE RIGHT TO WATER AS IT EXISTS IN THE UNITED STATES AND AROUND THE WORLD.
