- OHIO WORKFORCE ASSOCIATION (OWA) PLANNED WITH OWD AND CONSULTANTS MAHER AND MAHER ANOTHER DAY AT THE STATEHOUSE LAST YEAR IN MAY, 2020, AS WELL AS OUR THIRD ANNUAL WIOA LEADERSHIP FORUM IN APRIL, 2020. HOWEVER, BOTH EVENTS WERE PLACED "ON HOLD" DUE TO COVID. - OWA CONTINUED ITS EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY EFFORTS WITH THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF JOB AND FAMILY SERVICES (ODJFS) AS THE STATE ENTERED INTO ITS THIRD FULL YEAR WITH THE COMPREHENSIVE CASE MANAGEMENT AND EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM (CCMEP) WHICH IS A PROGRAM SERVING YOUTH AGES 16-24 YEARS OLD WHO ARE LOWINCOME AND BARRIERED, AND ARE WIOA AND/OR TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE FOR NEEDY FAMILIES (TANF) ELIGIBLE. - OWA CONTINUED ITS WORK IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ODJFS IN THE STATE'S PERFORMANCE AND PROGRAMMING TIED TO THE WORKFORCE INNOVATION AND OPPORTUNITY ACT (WIOA) TO ALL 20 LOCAL WORKFORCE AREAS ACROSS OHIO. - OWA HELD ITS FIRST OWA DAY AT THE STATEHOUSE IN COLUMBUS ON MAY 28TH. OWA MEMBERS SPENT THE DAY MEETING WITH STATE LEGISLATORS AND STAFF TO EDUCATE THEM ON WORKFORCE PROGRAMMING AVAILABLE IN THEIR DISTRICTS, AND TO DISCUSS WORKFORCE AND TALENT OPPORTUNITIES AND ISSUES FACING OHIO. - OWA COORDINATED AN ESTABLISHED MEETING WITH THE OFFICE OF WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT (ODJFS) FOR ALL 20 WORKFORCE BOARD DIRECTORS ACROSS OHIO MONTHLY, IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE REGULAR OWA BUSINESS MEETING NORMALLY SCHEDULED ON THE THIRD WEDNESDAY OF EACH MONTH.
