DURING 2020, THE ORGANIZATION RAISED SUFFICIENT CAPITAL TO COMPLETE A 4,000 SQUARE FOOT ADDITION TO THE MUSEUM WHICH HOUSES OVER 150 ITEMS FROM THE NEW SPAIN VICE REGAL PERIOD DATING FROM 1620 TO ABOUT 1820. THE ITEMS CONSIST OF RARE PAINTINGS, FURNITURE PIECES, POTTERY AND UNIQUE SILVER AND IVORY FROM THAT PERIOD. AFTER OPENING TH ART HALL, THE MUSEUM HAS EXPERIENCED A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN SCHOOL GROUP TOURS, INCLUDING TITLE IX SCHOOLS.
THE MUSEUM OFFERS A SENSORY SAFARI, WHICH OFFERS AN EXPERIENCE FOR YOUTH AND ADULTS WITH SIGHT DISABILITIES. THESE INDIVIDUALS ARE ALLOWED TO EXPLORE THE ANIMALS WITH THEIR HANDS WHILE THE ANIMAL IS BEING DESCRIBED. ALSO, THE EDUCATIONAL VALUE OF THE RARE ART COLLECTION CAN'T BE OVERSTATED. THE SINGLE MOST STATED WORD FROM OUR VISITORS AFTER EXITING THE ART HALL IS "WOW" AS WORD SPREADS OF THIS UNIQUE OFFERING, WE ANTICIPATE A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN ADMISSIONS IN FUTURE YEARS.
THE MUSEUM CONTINUED TO FUNCTION AS AN ORGANIZATION FORMED FOR CHARITABLE, EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES, AND OPERATES AS A WILDLIFE MUSEUM THAT CONTAINS DISPLAYS OF EXOTIC ANIMAL MOUNTS AND A "SENSORY SAFARI" CREATED FOR EDUCATING BLIND AND PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED CHILDREN AS WELL AS ADULTS ABOUT WILD ANIMALS FROM AROUND THE WORLD. IN JANUARY OF 2021 THE NEWLY INSTALLED NEW SPAIN ART COLLECTION AND THE ART HALL WERE OPENED TO THE PUBLIC. THIS ADDITION TO OUR MUSEUM HAS EXPANDED OUR OFFERING TO A LARGER AUDIENCE OF EDUCATORS, HISTORIANS AND HISTORY BUFFS.
