Part 3
THE SAGE RIDERS MOTORCYCLE CLUB IS A GROUP OF AVID OFF-ROAD MOTORCYCLE RIDERS MOSTLY FROM THE STATE OF UTAH. THE CLUB MEETS MONTHLY TO DISCUSS CLUB BUSINESS, RIDING OPPORTUNITIES, EVENTS, ETC. AS A GROUP THE CLUB COORDINATES GROUP RIDES FOR ITS MEMBERS, FAMILY MEMBERS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC. THE GROUP ALSO PARTICIPATES IN TRAIL IMPROVEMENT AND MAINTENANCE ACTIVITIES SINCE MOST TRIAL RIDES TAKE PLACE ON PUBLIC LAND. THE CLUB IS VERY INVOLVED WITH THE BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT AND THE U.S. FOREST SERVICE ON THESE PROJECTS. THESE PROJECTS IMPROVE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE USERS OF THE TRAILS AND THE U.S. GOVERNMENT LAND MANAGEMENT AGENCIES WHICH BENEFITS ALL USERS OF THE PUBLIC TRAIL SYSTEMS. EACH YEAR THE CLUB HOSTS TWO LARGE DESERT RACES OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND ARE OFTEN HELD ON PUBLIC LAND WHICH REQUIRES COORDINATION WITH GOVERNMENT LAND AGENCIES. ONE IS A NATIONAL DESERT RACE THAT IS SANCTIONED BY THE AMERICAN MOTORCYCLE ASSOCIATION (AMA) AND IS PART OF THE NATIONAL HARE AND HOUND SERIES (WWW.NATIONALHAREANDHOUND.COM). THE OTHER IS SANCTIONED BY THE UTAH SPORTSMAN RACING ASSOCIATION (USRA) WHICH IS A UTAH DESERT RACING SERIES. EACH OF THESE RACES REQUIRES TREMENDOUS RESOURCES TO ORGANIZE AND OPERATE. THE CLUB GENERATES REVENUES BY CHARGING THE RACERS AN ENTRY FEE TO RACE. THESE REVENUES SUPPORT THE CLUB'S ABILITY TO OPERATE THE RACES AND OTHER EXPENSES INCURRED BY THE ORGANIZATION. ALL OF THE CLUB'S MEMBERS WORK AS VOLUNTEERS AND NO ONE IS PAID FOR THEIR WORK.
