OUR MISSION IS TO HELP WASHINGTON STATE GIRLS* IN ADVERSE SITUATIONS THRIVE AND HAVE MEANINGFUL FUTURES. *GIRLS REFERS TO GENDER EXPANSIVE YOUTH (CIS GIRLS, TRANS GIRLS, NON-BINARY YOUTH, GENDER NON-CONFORMING YOUTH, GENDER QUEER YOUTH AND ANY GIRL-IDENTIFIED YOUTH).

ADVOCACYDURING THE 2022 LEGISLATIVE SESSION, JFGS KEY POLICY PRIORITIES WERE:IMPROVE AND EXPAND PREVENTION, DIVERSION AND DISCHARGE SERVICES FOR GIRLS INVOLVED IN- OR AT RISK OF BECOMING INVOLVED IN WA STATE PUBLIC SYSTEMS INCLUDING CHILD WELFARE, HOUSING, BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND/OR JUVENILE JUSTICE.PROMOTE SAFE AND INCLUSIVE SCHOOL COMMUNITIES FOR GIRLS AND EXPAND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT FUNDING FOR GIRL-CENTERED, RACIALLY EQUITABLE PROGRAMMING.ADDRESS THE MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS USING A GIRL-CENTERED RACIAL EQUITY LENS.JFGS PRIORITY THAT BILLS PASSED IN 2022 WERE:CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O...


PROGRAM DEVELOPMENTOFFERED ONLINE GIRLS ADVOCACY & IMPACT NETWORK (GAIN) PROGRAMMING. GAIN EQUIPPED GIRLS WITH TOOLS, SUPPORT AND SKILLS THEY NEED TO EFFECTIVELY INFLUENCE THE POLICIES THAT DIRECTLY IMPACT THEIR LIVES. FACILITATED BY YOUTH OF COLOR, THE GAIN PROGRAM PROVIDED ADVOCACY TRAINING TO 20 MEMBERS IN PIERCE, KING AND YAKIMA COUNTIES.ADVANCED THE ONE GIRL BETTER SYSTEMS (OGBS) MODEL PROGRAM IN PIERCE COUNTY AND CREATED A THREE-COUNTY BLUEPRINT FOR ACTION IN COLLABORATION WITH ADVISORY GROUPS IN KITSAP, YAKIMA, AND SPOKANE COUNTIES. WE CONDUCTED LISTENING SESSIONS WITH SERVICE-PROVIDER ADULTS AND GIRLS WHO STRUGGLE WITH TRUANCY AND COURT-IMPACTED GIRLS TO ENSURE THAT GIRLS IN THESE COUNTIES AT RISK FOR ENTERING THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM CAN ACCESS EFFECTIVE SERVICES. JFGS TRAINING & ASSESSMENT EFFORTSWE HOSTED OUR EIGHTH ANNUAL SUMMIT, BEYOND PINK: CENTERING MENTAL HEALTH & WELLBEING FOR GIRLS. WE HAD 250 FOLKS REGISTER FROM 69 CITIES IN 16 STATES WHO WORK IN 104 DIFFERENT SYSTEMS REPRESENTING MORE THAN 817,000 GIRLS UNDER 18 IN WA STATE AND NEARLY 20 MILLION GIRLS UNDER 18 COLLECTIVELY. KEYNOTE PRESENTATIONS BY DR. QUINN FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN AND LAUREN CARSON OF BLACK GIRLS SMILE GROUNDED THE DAY. WASHINGTON STATE PARTNERS INCLUDING PRESENTERS FROM FYRE IN OKANOGAN COUNTY AND THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON CO-LAB/CARE PROVIDED COUNTY AND STATE CONTEXT FOR UNDERSTANDING THE OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES THAT GO WITH IMPROVING GIRLS MENTAL HEALTH.
