IN 2018, MONTEREY GREEN INTITIATIVE WITH SEED MONIES FROM ESALEN INSTITUTE, TOOK THE INITIAL STEPS TO BUILD THE BIG SUR BROADBAND PROJECT. IN 2019, SIGNIFICANT CONSTRUCTION AND ASSEMBLY OF THE BROADBAND PROJECT TOOK PLACE, PREPARING IT FOR INSTALLATION.IN 2020, THE PROJECT WAS PUT ON HOLD DUE TO PERMITTING DISPUTES.THE PROJECT APPEARS TO NEVER BE FEASIBLE, AND THE ORGANIZATION IS PREPARING TO DISSOLVE IF IT CANNOT FIND A WORTHWHILE NEW DIRECTION.
