LOBBYING AND POLICY ADVOCACY: JUSTICE ACTION NETWORK (JAN) ADVOCATED FOR REFORMS AT BOTH THE STATE AND FEDERAL LEVEL THAT WILL MAKE OUR CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM FAIRER, MORE EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE WHILE ENSURING PUBLIC SAFETY. JAN COLLABORATED WITH OTHER NONPROFITS, CRIMINAL JUSTICE ADVOCATES, AND LAW ENFORCEMENT TO ENGAGE IN BOTH GRASSROOTS AND DIRECT LOBBYING EFFORTS AT THE FEDERAL AND STATE LEVEL ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE ISSUES. JAN ASSISTED WITH DRAFTING LEGISLATION, TESTIFIED BEFORE STATE LEGISLATURES, AND PARTICIPATED IN PRESS CONFERENCES TO HIGHLIGHT PROPOSED REFORMS.
