THE PURPOSE DICKINSON COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION IS TO FURTHER THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF DICKINSON COUNTY, KANSAS BY PROMOTING AND ASSISTING THE GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY; AS WELL AS ADDRESSING ALL BUSINESS CONCERNS WITHIN DICKINSON COUNTY.

ASSIST WITH NEW BUSINESS RECRUITMENT, WORKING TO ENSURE GOOD CORPORATE CITIZENS ARE SOUGHT OUT AS DESIRABLE. ASSIST NEW BUSINESSES WRITE BUSINESS PLANS AND AID IN CONNECTING WITH FUNDING RESOURCES. HOLD EDUCATIONAL BUSINESS TRAINING AND SEMINARS.
THE DRIVING DICKINSON COUNTY PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM IS DKEDC'S BUSINESS RETENTION & EXPANSION FOCUSED PROGRAM; INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, SERVICES RENDERED BY THE FORMER ABILENE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE UPON ITS OFFICIAL DISSOLUTION. THE PROGRAM INCLUDED THE FOLLOWING IN 2021: 1) 92 MEMBERS COMPRISED OF BUSINESSES, NONPROFITS, AND PRIVATE INDIVIDUALS. 2) 3 BUSINESS AFTER HOURS NETWORKING EVENTS. 3) 4 LUNCH & LEARN EDUCATION EVENTS FOR MEMBERS. 4) CREATION OF THE DIKCINSON DOLLARS PROGRAM - AN INCENTIVE FOR INDIVIDUALS TO SHOP LOCALLY IN DICKINSON COUNTY. 5) 2 HOLIDAY CONTESTS FOR BUSINESSES TO SHOWCASE THEIR TALENTS. 6) 300 BUSINESS VISITS BETWEEN A PARTNERSHIP REPRESENTATIVE AND BUSINESS OWNERS ACROSS DICKINSON COUNTY TO DISCUSS CHALLENGES AND WHAT'S WORKING WELL. 7) 3 RIBBON CUTTING EVENTS FOR NEW BUSINESSES STARTING UP IN DICKINSON COUNTY.
