WE CONTINUE TO SUPPORT HOLISTIC COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT IN URBAN POOR COMMUNITIES - CURRENTLY ON THE EASTERN SIDE OF MEXICO CITY AND CARIBBEAN COAST OF COLOMBIA - AREAS THAT HAVE BEEN DEEMED AMONG THE MOST VIOLENT AND POVERTY-STRICKEN REGIONS IN THEIR COUNTRIES. IN ADDITION, THROUGH OUR BROAD-BASED ORGANIZING EFFORTS, WE ARE IMPACTING URBAN POOR CITY DWELLERS IN SEVERAL OTHER MUNICIPALITIES. THIS INCLUDES TEACHING PUBLIC HEALTH PREVENTION, ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP, HOUSEHOLD BUILDING IMPROVEMENTS, VOCATIONAL TRAINING, AND LAUNCHING MICRO-ENTERPRISES. COMMUNITY PROJECTS INCLUDE IMPROVING ACCESS TO BASIC SERVICES LIKE WATER, SEWAGE, AND ELECTRICITY.
