WHICH BECAME OPERATIONAL ON FEBRUARY 1, 2015. THE PURPOSE OF THE JOINT OPERATING COMPANY IS TO PROVIDE A FINANCIALLY AND OPERATIONALLY INTEGRATED ORGANIZATION FOR THE COMMON MANAGEMENT AND OPERATION OF THE HEALTH CARE FACILITIES AND OPERATIONS OF AMH AND ABHS WHILE PRESERVING THE CATHOLIC AND ADVENTIST IDENTITIES AND MISSION PRIORITIES THAT DEFINE ABHS AND ADVENTIST, RESPECTIVELY. IN APRIL 2015, WE ANNOUNCED AMITA HEALTH AS THE D/B/A FOR ALEXIAN BROTHERS-AHS MIDWEST REGION HEALTH CO. THE WORD AMITA IS INSPIRED BY WORDS FROM SEVERAL LANGUAGES: FRIENDSHIP IN ITALIAN, HONESTY AND TRUTH IN HEBREW, AND SPIRITUAL LIGHT AND BOUNDLESSNESS IN HINDI. THESE WORDS REFLECT OUR CORE VALUES OF FRIENDSHIP, TRUTH, AND MUTUAL RESPECT FOR ALL, AS WELL AS OUR FAITH-BASED CALL TO HEALING. ALTHOUGH THE NAME IS NEW, THE VALUES OF OUR TWO GREAT ORGANIZATIONS WILL CONTINUE TO BE THE FOUNDATION OF WHO WE ARE AND HOW WE CARE FOR OUR COMMUNITIES INTO THE FUTURE.
