TO IMPROVE THE UNDERSTANDING OF IN-UTERO CARDIOVASCULAR PHYSIOLOGY BY FOSTERING SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH, ORGANIZED RESEARCH COLLABORATION, AND MENTORSHIP FOR THE BENEFIT OF PATIENTS. TO EDUCATE MEDICAL AND RESEARCH PROFESSIONALS THROUGH SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND MEETINGS.

RESEARCH: THE FHS PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDIVIDUALS ACROSS INSTITUTIONS ACRPSS COLLABORATE AND FORMULATE RESEARCH QUESTIONS AND ANALYZE LARGE VOLUMES OF MULTICENTER DATA. THIS ALLOWS FOR MEANINGFUL RESULTS THAT CAN BETTER SHAPE THE CARE AND OUTCOMES OF THESE FETUSES AND CHILDREN IN THE FUTURE. THERE ARE CURRENTLY 15 ACTIVE PROJECTS, WITH PEER REVIEWED SELECTION FOR RESEARCH PRESENTATION AT NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCES, AN FHS RESEARCH PUBLICATION FOCUSED ON SOCIOECONOMIC DETERMINANTS OF FETAL DIAGNOSIS OF CRITICAL CONGENITAL HEART DISEASE, AND SEVERAL REQUESTS FOR FHS ENDORSEMENT OF GUIDELINES. THERE ARE AT LEAST 3 ADDITIONAL MANUSCRIPTS IN PREPARATION FOR PUBLICATION.
EDUCATION: THE FHS WEBSITE IS DESIGNED TO HAVE RESOURCES TO FOR THOSE CARING FOR FAMILIES WITH FETAL CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE. COUNSELING GIUDANCE AND FACT SHEETS HAVE BEEN CREATED AND VETTED BY EXPERTS WITHIN THE FHS AND CAN BE FOUND ON THE WEBSITE SO PROVIDERS HAVE A QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE TO COUNSEL FAMILIES ON MANAGEMENT AND OUTCOMES. THE FHS HAS ALSO HOSTED MONTHLY EDUCATIONAL WEBINARS ORGANIZED BY LEADERS IN OUR FIELD FOCUSED ON CUTTING EDGE TOPICS RANGING FROM INNOVATIVE THERAPIES, ETHICS OF FETAL DIAGNOSIS, TRAINING STRATEGIES FOR THE FUTURE, COMPLEX DIAGNOSES, AND ALONG WITH OTHER TOPICS. THESE WEBINARS ARE FREE OF CHARGE AND HAVE BEEN AN EXCELLENT INTERNATIONAL RESOURCE. THE FHS HAS NOW HAD AN ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM FOR 2 YEARS STRAIGHT WITH THE NEXT ONE SCHEDULED IN AUGUST 2023 AT THE WORLD CONGRESS OF PEDIATRIC CARDIOLOGY AND CARDIAC SURGERY 2023.
ADVOCACY: THE FHS IS COMMITTED TO ADVOCACY FOR PATIENTS AND FAMILIES AS IS DEMONSTRATED WITH OUR FIRST RESEARCH PUBLICATION DOCUSED ON SOCIOECONOMIC DETERMINANTS OF FETAL DIAGNOSIS OF CRITICAL CONGENITAL HEART DISEASE. ADVOCACY EXTENDS TO CAREER AND PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT FOR OUR MEMBERS AND THEIR LOCAL TEAMS. IN THE PAST YEAR THE FHS HAS DEVELOPED A MENTORSHIP COMMITTEE FOR SENIOR AND JUNIOR TEAM MEMBERS TO CONNECT AND LEARN FROM ONE ANOTHER. THE NURSING COMMITTEE FOCUSES ON PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF FETAL CARDIAC NURSES AND WORKS COLLABORATIVELY TO IMPROVE SUPPORTS FOR THE FAMILIES THEY CARE FOR. FINALLY, THE FHS HAS RECENTLY FORMED A COMMITTEE FOR FETAL CARDIOLOGY PROGRAM LEADERS AND QI INITIATIVES WHICH WILL ALLOW FOR IMPROVED STANDARDIZATION ACROSS CENTERS FOR FETAL CARDIOLOGY PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT WITH A COLLABORATIVE, SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY TO SHARE CHALLENGES AND CREATE SOLUTIONS.
