TO ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN A PHILANTHROPIC ORGANIZATION TO BENEFIT THE MASCOMA VALLEY REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT. THE PURPOSE IS TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO THE MASCOMA VALLEY REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT ON SHORT-TERM AND LONG-TERM INITIATIVES THAT FOSTER EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND NUTRITIONAL WELL-BEING FOR OUR STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES. THE BENEFICIARIES OF THE FOUNDATION ARE THE SCHOOL FACILITIES, FACULTY, STUDENTS, AND THEIR FAMILIES WITHIN THE DISTRICT.

FRIENDS FEEDING FRIENDS IS OUR PROGRAM THAT ADDRESSES FOOD INSECURITY, NUTRITIONAL WELL-BEING AND FOOD WASTE IN OUR MASCOMA VALLEY. WE ARE AGENTS OF THE NEW HAMPSHIRE FOOD BANK TO PROVIDE THEIR RESOURCES TO OUR THREE REGISTERED FOOD PANTRIES. WE HAVE AN IN-HOUSE PANTRY AT THE MASCOMA VALLEY REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL THAT OFFERS 4 SCHOOL BUILDINGS SNACKS DURING THE SCHOOL DAY AS WELL AS BACKPACKS TO TAKE HOME. DURING ALL SCHOOL BREAKS BOXES OF FOOD TO SUPPLEMENT SCHOOL FAMILIES' WEEKLY FOOD ARE PROVIDED. STUDENT SCHOOL GROUPS WILL ORGANIZE THE FOOD AND HELP DISTRIBUTE IT TO FAMILIES. WE ALSO OPERATE TWO PUBLIC FOOD PANTRIES (ENFIELD AND CANAAN) THAT ARE OPEN ONCE A WEEK AND ACCESSIBLE TO ANY RESIDENTS OF THE MASCOMA VALLEY TOWNS OF CANAAN, DORCHESTER, ENFIELD, GRAFTON AND ORANGE. WE HAVE DISTRIBUTED OVER 95000 POUNDS OF FOOD AND PERSONAL ARTICLES DURING 2021. WE HAD 1122 HOUSEHOLDS VISIT OUR PUBLIC PANTRIES THAT COMPRISED OF 2007 INDIVIDUALS THAT NEEDED ASSISTANCE. WE HAVE OVER 600 HOUSEHOLDS REGISTERED AS CLIENTS TO DATE. WE ARE PART OF A NH FEEDING NH PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NEW HAMPSHIRE FOOD BANK THAT ENABLES US TO PURCHASE FRESH PRODUCE FROM LOCAL FARMS.
OUR MINI-GRANT PROGRAM PROMOTES AND ENCOURAGES OUR MASCOMA VALLEY REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT STAFF TO FACILITATE GREAT TEACHING IDEAS OR CREATIVE ENRICHMENT PROJECTS AND RESOURCES THAT BENEFIT OUR STUDENTS. WE AWARDED $4208.41 TO PROJECTS SUCH AS A SCIENCE EXPERIMENT (CONCENTRATION OF ACID IN VINEGAR EXPERIMENT), DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION BOOKS FOR THE ELEMENTARY LIBRARY,AND A HANDS-ON CRAFTWORKS PROJECT WITH A MASTER WOODSMAN, AND A CREATIVE ONLINE PROGRAM CALLED BREAKOUT.EDU. WE ARE HOPEFUL THAT LESS COVID RESTRICTIONS WILL ALLOW STAFF TO UTILIZE THIS RESOURCE MORE.
OUR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS TO RECENT GRADUATING SENIORS AS WELL AS PAST SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS TO EARN A SUPPLEMENTAL AMOUNT TOWARDS FOUR YEAR, TRADE, TECHNICAL OR CERTIFICATION SCHOOLS. APPLICANTS MUST SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AND THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEET AND VOTE ON AWARDING THE SCHOLARSHIPS ANNUALLY. WE THEN PRESENT THEM IN PERSON ON AWARDS NIGHT. WE AWARDED $21,784.00 IN 2021 THAT INCLUDED 19 GRADUATING SENIORS. ONE OF OUR HOPES FOR THE FUTURE IS WE CAN PUBLICIZE AND PROMOTE TRADES SCHOOLS MORE.
