TAUGHT CREATIVE WRITING COURSES IN 8 MINNESOTA STATE CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES. 24 FULL 10-15 WEEK LONG COURSES TAUGHT IN 2021 PLUS GUEST TEACHERS AND SHORTER COURSES. SOME COURSES WERE DELIVERED REMOTELY DUE TO PANDEMIC RESTRICTIONS ON IN-PERSON PROGRAMMING. ESTIMATED 600 STUDENTS TAUGHT IN 2021.
COORDINATED A MAIL MENTOR PROGRAM IN WHICH INCARCERATED AND FORMERLY-INCARCERATED WRITERS ARE MATCHED WITH EXPERIENCED WRITERS AND EDITORS OUTSIDE OF PRISON FOR MONTHLY EXCHANGES OF CREATIVE WORK AND DETAILED PERSONALIZED FEEDBACK. APPROX 100 WRITERS PARTICIPATED IN 2021.
PRINTED A BOOK-LENGTH ANTHOLOGY OF STUDENT WRITING "DROP A KITE," FEATURING THE WORK OF OVER 30 INCARCERATED WRITERS.
