OPEN BOOK IS A MINNESOTA NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION FORMED ON AUGUST 21, 1998. THE ORGANIZATION OWNS AND OPERATES THE BUILDING FOR THREE OTHER NONPROFIT ENTITIES: MILKWEED EDITIONS, INC., THE LOFT LITERARY CENTER, INC., AND MINNESOTA CENTER FOR BOOK ARTS FOR THE PURPOSE OF ENHANCING AND PROMOTING LITERARY AND VISUAL ARTS TO THE GREATER COMMUNITY. OPEN BOOK PROVIDES THE OPPORTUNITY FOR COLLABORATION WITH MANY AND VARIED COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS THROUGH READINGS, CLASSES, WORKSHOPS, EXHIBITIONS, MENTORSHIP PROGRAMS AND MANY OTHER EVENTS THROUGH THE ACTIVITIES OFFERED BY EACH OF OUR THREE LITERARY AND VISUAL ARTS PARTNERS. OPEN BOOK SERVES A GREAT CROSS-SECTION OF THE PUBLIC, WELCOMING AN ESTIMATED 10,000 VISITORS PER MONTH.
