THIS PROJECT HAS BENEFITED THE MOST VULNERABLE OF AFGHAN RELIGIOUS MINORITIES WHO ARE FLEEING THE TALIBAN IN AFGHANISTAN. BENEFICIARIES OF THIS PROGRAM INCLUDE WOMEN AT RISK, RELIGIOUS MINORITIES AND OTHERS AT RISK THAT WERE ASSISTED WITH ESSENTIAL ITEMS SUCH AS FOOD, SHELTER, MEDICAL AND SAFE PASSAGE.
PROJECT NAZARENE ASSISTS PERSECUTED RELIGIOUS MINORITY COMMUNITIES THAT HAVE SURVIVED A GENOCIDE OR PERSECUTION. THE PROJECT ASSISTS WITH BUILDING RESILIENCE AND EMPOWERING PERSECUTED MINORITY COMMUNITIES THROUGH PROJECTS THAT PROMOTE ECONOMIC ENPOWERMENT THROUGH JOB CREATION AND SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OR BY SUPPORTING CULTURE AND EDUCATION WHICH PROMOTES CULTURAL RESILIENCE. OUR LIVELIHOOD PROJECTS IN COUNTRIES LIKE IRAQ RESTORES AND RESTARTS BUSINESSES AS A MEANS OF TRANSFORMING THE ECONOMIC SITUATION IN DEVASTED TOWNS AND VILLAGES, WHILE COMBATTING POVERTY. IN COUNTRIES LIKE MYANMAR, WE HAVE SUPPORTED ETHNO-RELIGIOUS MINORITIES WITH NUTRITION AND EDUCATION SUPPORT FOR CHILDREN. WHILE IN INDIA, WE EMPOWERED YOUNG RELIGIOUS MINORITY AT RISK WOMEN IN THE KANDHAMAL DISTRICT OF ORISSA WHOSE HUSBANDS WERE KILLED BY SECTARIAN MOBS IN RURAL VILLAGES. THE WIDOWS LEFT WITH YOUNG CHILDREN HAD NO MEANS OF SUPPORT TO RAISE THE CHILDREN. THIS PROJECT PROVIDES THEM WITH THE SKILLS, TOOLS AND RESOURCES NECESSARY TO SETUP SMALL SCALE BUSINESSES (TAILORING, PAPER PLATE PRODUCTION, GOAT RAISING, GROCERY SHOPS, ETC.) THAT WILL NOT ONLY ENHANCE THEIR LIVELIHOODS BUT ALSO ENABLE THEIR CHILDREN TO RECEIVE A QUALITY EDUCATION.
SHAI FUND WORKED IN 11 COUNTRIES INCLUDING IRAQ, SYRIA, LEBANON, ISRAEL, SUDAN, UKRAINE, PAKISTAN, CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC, INDIA, MYANMAR AND AFGHANISTAN IN 2022 WITH HUMANITARIAN PROGRAMMING THAT ASSISTED A TOTAL OF 189,641 PEOPLE. THE HUMANITARIAN AID INCLUDED ASSISTANCE GIVEN IN TRAINING AND EDUCATION FOR 4,381 PERSONS, RELIEF WITH FOOD AND NON-FOOD ITEMS FOR 164,015 PERSONS, SHELTER FOR 5,533 PERSONS, LIVELIHOOD AND JOB CREATION FOR 62 PERSONS, PROTECTION PROGRAMS FOR 536 PERSONS, COMBATTING FORCED/CHILD MARRIAGES FOR 3 PERSONS, CULTURE AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR 10,000 PERSONS AND FOOD SECURITY FOR 7,927 PERSONS.
