RECIPIENTS CULTURAL EXCURSIONS*: AMONG OTHER EXCURSIONS, OUR PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS ATTENDED TRIPS TO VIZCAYA MUSEUM & GARDENS, A MIAMI ART BASEL 2022/BASEL SOUTH 2022 BLACK ART SHOW FEATURING ARTIST "RODNEY ROYAL", AND WYNWOOD WALLS. ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF OUR VARIOUS ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES: SELF & COMMUNITY* WORKSHOP/PROJECTS WAS OUR PARTICIPANTS ASSISTING "AVENUES OF EXCELLENCE" WITH ONE OF THEIR PREMIER EVENTS, "FATHER DAUGHTER DANCE "A NIGHT ON THE RED CARPET." ENTREPRENEURSHIP WORKSHOPS*: OWNER AND FOUNDER OF KDS2 LEGACY HELD A TRAINING SESSION WITH OUR PARTICIPANTS AT OUR LOCATION. AT THIS SESSION, OUR YOUTH LEARNED HOW TO CREATE/DESIGN AND PRESS T-SHIRTS. UNBEKNOWNST TO US, ONE OF OUR PARTICIPANTS HAD BEEN MAKING T-SHIRTS FOR HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS. HOWEVER, WHEN SHE PRESSED THE LETTERS ON THE SHIRTS, SHE USED A HOUSEHOLD IRON. ONCE SHE HAD COMPLETED THE SESSION USING AN ACTUAL PRESSING MACHINE, SHE DECIDED TO ASK HER MOM TO PURCHASE HER ONE. IN THE MEANTIME, THE OWNER AND FOUNDER OF KDS2 LEGACY TOLD HER THAT SHE WAS WELCOME TO USE HERS UNTIL HER PARENTS WERE ABLE TO PURCHASE ONE FOR HER. AS A RESULT, OUR PARTICIPANT MADE THE T-SHIRTS OUR PROGRAM USED FOR OUR SUMMER STEAM CAMP. IT IS OUR HOPE THAT WITH CONTINUOUS MENTORING, OUR PARTICIPANT WILL OFFICIALLY START HER OWN BUSINESS! ADDITIONALLY, OUR PROGRAM VISITED A LOCAL ENTREPRENEUR WHO GREW UP IN OUR COMMUNITY, VILLAGE WEST AND WHO HAS OPENED HIS OWN PREMIER SHOE STORE IN MIAMI, FL "U-PICK KICKZ". WHILE THERE, START PARTICIPANTS WERE GIVEN A TOUR, HEARD A MOTIVATIONAL SPEECH AND ENGAGED IN A QUESTION-AND-ANSWER SESSION. FISCAL/FINANCIAL LITERACY WORKSHOPS*: OUR PROGRAM PARTICIPATED IN MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOL'S SUMMER YOUTH INTERNSHIP PROGRAM ALLOWING 10 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN A PAID INTERNSHIP PROGRAM FOR 6 WEEKS. ADDITIONALLY, WE FACILITATED THE PROCESS OF HELPING THE INTERNS TO OPEN A BANK ACCOUNT AT EDFED EDUCATIONAL CREDIT UNION. FREE HOT MEAL PROGRAM*: OUR PROGRAM PROVIDED FREE HOT MEALS FOR OUR 20-25 STUDENT PARTICIPANTS. MOST OF OUR STUDENT PARTICIPANTS ARE A PART OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA'S FREE OR REDUCED LUNCH PROGRAM. HEALTH & FITNESS SESSIONS*: OUR PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS ATTENDED EXERCISE SESSIONS AT LA FITNESS. ADDITIONALLY, THEY ATTENDED SHAKE-A-LEG MIAMI, WHERE THEY PARTICIPATED IN WATER ACTIVITIES SUCH AS CANOEING, SAILING, AND SNORKELING. S.T.E.A.M.
