MEDICAL DEBT RELIEF: LOCATE, ACQUIRE, AND ABOLISH, I.E. RELIEVE, MEDICAL DEBT FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING POVERTY, GENERALLY DEFINED AS EARNING 200% OR LESS THAN THE FEDERAL POVERTY LEVEL, OR WHO ARE EXPERIENCING HARDSHIPS THAT MAKE PAYING OFF THE DEBT DIFFICULT OR IMPOSSIBLE. AN EXAMPLE OF HARDSHIP INCLUDES EXCESSIVE MEDICAL DEBT (I.E. OUT OF POCKET MEDICAL EXPENSES AMOUNTING TO MORE THAN 5% OF GROSS INCOME).
