ALLEVIATE POVERTY BY UNITING AND STRENGTHENING VULNERABLE NEIGHBORHOODS.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT - INCOMMON PARTNERS WITH NEIGHBORS TO INCREASE EMPLOYMENT SUCCESS AND ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY THROUGH EDUCATION, LANGUAGE CLASSES, JOB READINESS CLASSES, AND FINANCIAL WORKSHOPS. IN 2022, 144 INDIVIDUALS PARTICIPATED IN AN INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM SUCH AS GED, ESL, FINANCIAL EDUCATION, AND ONE-ON-ONE EMPLOYMENT COACHING. THROUGH THESE PROGRAMS, 8 NEIGHBORS BECAME US CITIZENS, AND NEARLY 70% OF PARTICIPANTS MADE PROGRESS TOWARD THEIR ECONOMIC AND EMPLOYMENT GOALS.


NEIGHBORHOOD DEVELOPMENT - 2022 WAS A FLAGSHIP YEAR FOR INCOMMON'S NEIGHBORHOOD DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS, AS THE ORGANIZATION CELEBRATED THE GRAND OPENING OF A SECOND COMMUNITY CENTER (THE WALNUT HILL COMMONS), INAUGURATED THE WALNUT HILL NEIGHBORHOOD PLANNING PROCESS, BEGAN CONSTRUCTION ON 75-UNITS OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING, AND LAUNCHED A NEW NON-PROFIT, INCOMMON HOUSING DEVELOPMENT. IN ADDITION, 2022 SHOWED POWERFUL RESULTS FROM INCOMMON'S LONG-TERM INVESTMENT IN PARK AVENUE: VIOLENT CRIME HAS DECREASED 11%, GRADUATION RATES HAVE INCREASED 15%, AND POVERTY HAS DECREASED BY 17%!


LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT - THE GENERATIONAL IMPACT INCOMMON CELEBRATES IS DUE TO THE HARD WORK AND DEDICATION OF NEIGHBORHOOD LEADERS. INCOMMON WORKS WITH RESIDENTS OF ALL AGES TO IDENTIFY AND FOSTER LEADERSHIP SKILLS THROUGH ASSESSMENT, SURVEYS, COACHING, AND OPPORTUNITIES TO LEAD IN PROGRAMS AND IN THE BROADER COMMUNITY. IN 2022, 15 NEIGHBORS GRADUATED FROM LOCAL LEADER SCHOOL, 14 NEIGHBORHOOD PROJECTS WERE CREATED AND LED BY RESIDENTS, 34 YOUTH PARTICIPATED IN A LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, AND 3 NEIGHBORS JOINED INCOMMON'S STAFF TEAM.
