TO SUPPORT THE NECEDAH AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT BY PROVIDING FINANCIAL GRANTS TO BE USED FOR SCHOLARSHIPS AND EDUCATION RELATED ASSISTANCE FOR STUDENTS RESIDING IN THE DISTRICT.

SCHOLARSHIP DISTRIBUTION IN THE FALL OF 2021, THE NECEDAH AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT WAS AWARDED NINE GRANTS TOTALING 9,000.00 AS COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR GRADUATES OF NECEDAH HIGH SCHOOL. THIS WAS THE FIFTH SCHOLARSHIP DISTRIBUTION GIVEN BY THE SAYLOR FAMILY EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP TRUST AND WILL BE AN ANNUAL DISTRIBUTION. SIX SCHOLARSHIPS OF 1000.00 AND FOUR SCHOLARSHIPS OF 750 WERE AWARDED TO THE STUDENTS AS THEY SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THEIR THIRD SEMESTER OF COLLEGE.
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM DISTRIBUTION THE NECEDAH AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT RECEIVED A TRUST DISTRIBUTION GRANT OF 2000 TO SUPPORT ITS AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM (ASP) IN 2021. THE ASP FOR 2021 SERVED UP TO 100 THIRD THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, WHO THROUGH TEST SCORES, AND TEACHER/PARENT INPUT, HAVE SHOWN THE NEED FOR ADDITIONAL ACADEMIC SUPPORT TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THEIR DAILY CLASSROOMS. THE ASP, WHICH IS LOCATED WITHIN THE NECEDAH AREA SCHOOL BUILDING, RUNS FOUR DAYS A WEEK FROM 3:20 P.M. TO 6:00 P.M., PROVIDING READING, MATH, HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE AND OTHER SKILL DEVELOPMENT FOR STUDENTS BASED ON THEIR INDIVIDUAL NEEDS. THE ASP IS SUPPORTED BY A COORDINATOR, FIVE TEACHERS, FIVE TEACHER AIDES, TWO VOLUNTEERS, AND 10 PUPIL ASSISTANT LEADERS (PALS). THE ASP STUDENTS COME FROM ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED HOUSEHOLDS, AND VIRTUALLY ALL OF THEM QUALIFY FOR FREE OR REDUCED SCHOOL LUNCH BECAUSE OF THEIR LOW HOUSEHOLD INCOME. WITH LIMITED EXPERIENCES OUTSIDE OF NECEDAH, WISCONSIN, THESE STUDENTS HAVE LITTLE EXPOSURE TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD WHERE THEY MIGHT DEVELOP AN UNDERSTANDING OF OR INTEREST IN A VARIETY OF POTENTIAL CAREER OPPORTUNITIES. THE 2000.00 GRANT FROM THE SAYLOR FAMILY EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP TRUST WAS EARMARKED TO FUND THE FIFTH YEAR OF THE CAREER-FOCUSED FIELD TRIPS BY WHICH ALL NECEDAH AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT ASP STUDENTS ARE INVITED TO TRAVEL TO NEARBY CITIES TO LEARN ABOUT POTENTIAL CAREERS. THE GRANT COVERED 70% OF THE TOTAL COSTS (INCLUDING BUSES USED TO TRANSPORT THE STUDENTS) FOR THESE FIELD TRIPS. DUE TO COVID, THESE TRIPS ALL TOOK PLACE IN THE FALL. TRIP 1: SPARTA, WISCONSIN 18 STUDENTS, GRADES 3-5 COSTS INCLUDE: BUS PER MILE, DRIVER, STAFF, PAL'S, TICKETS FOCUS OF TRIP: HISTORY: STUDENTS VISITED DEKE SLAYTON AND MONROE COUNTY MUSEUM. TRIP 2: MADISON, WISCONSIN 7 STUDENTS, GRADES 6-12 COST INCLUDE: BUS PER MILE, DRIVER, STAFF, PALS FOCUS OF TRIP: STEM: STUDENTS VISITED UW MADISON BIOTREK. TRIP 3: MADISON, WISCONSIN 8 STUDENTS, GRADES 3-5 COST INCLUDE: BUS PER MILE, DRIVER, STAFF, PALS FOCUS OF TRIP: STEM: STUDENTS VISITED UW MADISON BIOTREK. TRIP 4: WISCONSIN DELLS, WISCONSIN 10 STUDENTS, GRADES 6-12 COSTS INCLUDE: BUS PER MILE, DRIVER, STAFF, PALS FOCUS OF TRIP: BUSINESS MANAGEMENT: STUDENTS VISITED THE KALAHARI.
N-VISION AND N-GAGE CHARTER SCHOOLS DISTRIBUTION THE NECEDAH AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT RECEIVED A TRUST DISTRIBUTION GRANT OF 2000 TO SUPPORT ITS CHARTER SCHOOLS IN 2021. N-VISION SERVES 45 FIRST THROUGH 5TH GRADE STUDENTS AND N-GAGE SERVES 35 SIXTH THROUGH TWELFTH GRADE STUDENTS. OVER FIFTY PERCENT (50%) OF THE STUDENTS IN THE CHARTER SCHOOLS COME FROM ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED HOUSEHOLDS. WITH LIMITED EXPERIENCES OUTSIDE OF NECEDAH, WISCONSIN, THESE STUDENTS, TOO, HAVE LITTLE EXPOSURE TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD WHERE THEY MIGHT DEVELOP AN UNDERSTANDING OF OR INTEREST IN REAL LIFE EXPERIENCES THAT MAY LEAD TO POTENTIAL CAREER OPPORTUNITIES. THEIR DAILY CURRICULUM IS DESIGNED TO ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO BECOME POWERFUL LEARNERS THROUGH STUDENT AND TEACHER SELECTED PROJECT BASED LEARNING ACTIVITIES. TEACHERS INCORPORATE EXPERIENCES THAT WILL ENHANCE THEIR LEARNING. THE 2000 GRANT FROM THE SAYLOR FAMILY EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP TRUST WAS EARMARKED FOR FIELD TRIPS, PRESENTERS OR MATERIALS THAT INCORPORATE THE USE OF PROJECT BASED LEARNING TO ENGAGE STUDENTS IN MAKING CONNECTIONS TO THE REAL WORLD. BOTH N-GAGE AND N-VISION PURCHASED MATERIALS FOR PROJECT LEAD THE WAY ACTIVITIES. THE FOCUS OF PROJECT LEAD THE WAY IS TO PROVIDE THE STUDENTS WITH HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES, PROJECTS AND PROBLEMS THAT EMPOWER THEM TO SOLVE REAL-WORLD CHALLENGES.
DRIVER'S EDUCATION TRAINING IN THE SPRING OF 2021, A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT WANTED TO TAKE THE DRIVER'S EDUCATION TRAINING OFFERED IN NECEDAH. HAVING A DRIVER'S LICENSE IS NECESSARY IN A RURAL AREA TO OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN A JOB. SINCE THE STUDENT DID NOT HAVE THE RESOURCES NECESSARY TO COVER THE 125 FOR THE COST OF THE TRAINING, THE SAYLOR FAMILY EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP TRUST COVERED THAT COST. 6TH AND 9TH GRADE ORIENTATION ON AUGUST 16 AND 17 OF 2021, THE SCHOOL TOOK 52 6TH GRADERS AND 55 9TH GRADERS, RESPECTIVELY, TO UPHAM WOODS IN WISCONSIN DELLS. WHILE THERE STUDENTS WERE IMMERSED IN TEAM BUILDING, RELATIONSHIP BUILDING AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ACTIVITIES. THE TOTAL COST OF 1,609.50 WAS COVERED BY THE SAYLOR FAMILY EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP TRUST.
