SEED CERTIFICATION IS A PRIMARY FUNCTION OF THE ASSOCIATION. THE ASSOCIATION INSPECTS SEED PRODUCERS' FIELDS AND SEED PROCESSORS' FACILITIES TO ENSURE THAT CERTIFIED SEED IS GROWN AND HANDLED PROPERLY. THE ASSOCIATION COLLECTS SALES FEES AND ROYALTIES WHEN CERTIFIED SEED IS SOLD IN THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA. THE ASSOCIATION ALSO COLLECTS FROM AND REMITS THESE FEES AND ROYALTIES TO SIMILAR ORGANIZATIONS IN NEIGHBORING STATES TO SOUTH DAKOTA.
