Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
AID CHILDREN LIVING IN POVERTY BY WORKING WITH 5 LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS AND SEVERAL SOCIAL AGENCIES IN THE COMMUNITY. TO RECEIVE OUR ASSISTANCE, A CHILD MUST QUALIFY FOR THE FREE OR REDUCED SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM AT SCHOOL. THIS MEANS THEY ARE LIVING BELOW THE FEDERAL POVERTY LINE. PROFESSIONALS WORKING DIRECTLY WITH THESE CHILDREN EMAIL NEEDS TO THE CHARITY. WE PROVIDE WHATEVER IS REQUESTED. THE CHARITY NEVER KNOWS THE IDENTITY OF THE CHILD WE ARE ASSISTING. ONLY THE PROFESSIONAL MAKING THE REQUEST KNOWS THE CHILD.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
IN-NEED CHILDREN'S AID: THE CHARITY PROVIDES CLOTHES, SHOES, SPORTS EQUIPMENT, SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY CLUB FEES, BED BUG/ROACH ERADICATION, ACTIVITY PARTICIPATION FEES, HEALTH CARE, MENTAL HEALTH CARE, CAR REPAIRS, BAND INSTRUMENTS, EYE GLASSES, ETC. WHATEVER A PROFESSIONAL WORKING WITH A CHILD LIVING IN POVERTY NEEDS WE PROVIDE.
BUDDY PACKS: THIS EFFORT PROVIDES WEEKEND FOOD FOR CHILDREN IN GRADES 7 - 12 WHO QUALIFY FOR THE FREE LUNCH PROGRAM AT SCHOOL. THEY DO NOT GET WEEKEND FOOD FROM THE AREA FOOD BANK AS DO ELEMENTARY CHILDREN. FOR SOME OF THESE KIDS, THE ONLY FOOD THEY EAT IS WHAT THEY GET AT SCHOOL. MOST OF THIS YEAR WE FED 62 CHILDREN WITH FOOD SCARCITY ON WEEKENDS.
DUAL CREDIT SCHOLARSHIPS: ANY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT LIVING IN POVERTY CAN RECEIVE A DUAL CREDIT SCHOLARSHIP WHICH PAYS FOR TUITION AND BOOKS FOR A COLLEGE CREDIT CLASS TAKEN WHILE IN HIGH SCHOOL. THIS YEAR 53 STUDENTS TOOK 73 COLLEGE COURSES AND EARNED 230 COLLEGE CREDITS. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT STUDENT WHO GRADUATE HIGH WITH COLLEGE CREDITS ALREADY EARNED ARE MUCH MORE LIKELY TO CONTINUE WITH COLLEGE.
