OUR PRIMARY PURPOSE SHALL BE TO WORK IN A MUTUAL RELATIONSHIP WITH THE CITY OF SUTHERLIN (CITY) TO ASSIST IN THE COORDINATION OF DEVELOPMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF THE FORD'S POND PROPERTY FOR RECREATIONAL BENEFIT TO THE CITY; AND TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC CONCERNING THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF OUTDOOR RECREATION AND TO INCREASE ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS.

FRIENDS OF FORD'S POND VOLUNTEERS DONATED OVER 1,900 HOURS CONDUCTING THE BUSINESS OF THE NONPROFIT: PRIMARILY FUNDRAISING FOR PARK IMPROVEMENTS, GRANT WRITING, GENERAL PARK MAINTENANCE, AND PARTICIPATING ON THE FORD'S POND COMMUNITY PARK DESIGN TEAM. THE FRIENDS DESIGNED AND PRODUCED A QUARTERLY ONLINE NEWSLETTER, SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS, WEBSITE CONTENT, NEWS RELEASES AND INTERVIEWS; PRESENTED PROGRAMMING TO SCHOOL GROUPS AND COMMUNITY GROUPS; AND PRODUCED A STORYTELLING VIDEO. THE FRIENDS DONATED OVER 1,100 HOURS ON THE CONTINUED RESTORATION OF THE OAK SAVANNA WOODLANDS. THE FRIENDS CLEARED BRUSH, REMOVED INVASIVE SPECIES, AND PROVIDED OVERSIGHT ON CONTRACTED HERBICIDE APPLICATION. THE FRIENDS ALSO ASSISTED THE USFWS WITH AN ON-SITE RESTORATION PROJECT FOR THE FEDERALLY-ENDANGERED ROUGH POPCORN FLOWER.
