ENERGY SMART COLORADO IS HELPING COMMUNITIES AND ORGANIZATIONS ADVANCE COMMUNITY-BASED GOALS FOR EFFICIENCY OR CLIMATE ACTION BY SHARING RESOURCES, BUILDING CAPACITY, AND PROVIDING MUTUAL SUPPORT.

ENERGY SMART COLORADO (ESC) IS A COLLABORATION OF 10 COMMUNITY PARTNERS SERVING 18 COLORADO COUNTIES WHOSE COLLECTIVE GOAL IS TO MAKE RESIDENTIAL ENERGY EFFICIENCY IMPROVEMENTS SIMPLE AND AFFORDABLE WHILE ADVANCING COMMUNITY-BASED GOALS FOR ENERGY EFFICIENCY OR CLIMATE ACTION. ESC ASSISTS RURAL COMMUNITIES, CONSISTING OF NON-PROFIT ENTITIES, GOVERNMENT AGENCIES AND UTILITY PROVIDERS DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROGRAMS TO HELP RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES SAVE MONEY AND REDUCE CARBON EMISSIONS WHILE ALSO SUPPORTING LOCAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. THE NETWORK WORKS ON THE IDEA OF COLLECTIVE IMPACT AND THAT BY WORKING TOGETHER AND SHARING RESOURCES, THE GROUP CAN HAVE A LARGER IMPACT. THROUGH ESC'S COMMUNITY PARTNERS, HOMEOWNERS AND BUSINESSES ARE PROVIDED WITH ENERGY ASSESSMENTS, ADVISING ON ENERGY EFFICIENCY IMPROVEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS, DIRECT INSTALLS, ACCESS TO FINANCING (INCLUDING REBATES AND LOANS), AND CONNECTIONS TO LOCAL CONTRACTORS TO COMPLETE RETROFIT PROJECTS. IN ADDITION TO STARTING UP AND SUPPORTING ITS MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS, ESC PROVIDES SERVICES TO UTILITIES AND MUNICIPALITIES TO HELP MEET STATEWIDE AND COMMUNITY GOALS FOR EFFICIENCY AND CLIMATE ACTION. THESE SERVICES INCLUDE A CONSISTENT FIELD ASSESSMENT TOOL, A ROBUST DATA MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, PARTICIPANT ENROLLMENT SUPPORT, AS WELL AS ENERGY REDUCTION TRACKING AND PROGRAM MARKETING. SINCE 2010, ESC HAS HELPED COMMUNITIES DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT CLIMATE ACTION PROGRAMS THAT HAVE DIRECTLY LED TO MORE THAN 73 MILLION IN LOCAL INVESTMENTS IN ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND RENEWABLE ENERGY PROJECTS. IN PARTNER COMMUNITIES, OVER 10,000 ENERGY ASSESSMENTS HAVE RESULTED IN THE COMPLETION OF OVER 5,000 ENERGY UPGRADES. MORE IMPORTANTLY, EACH YEAR, ENERGY SMART PARTICIPANTS ARE SAVING OVER 4.5 MILLION IN UTILITY COSTS AND NEARLY 40,000 METRIC TONS OF CO2. ESC HAS HELPED COMMUNITIES DEVELOP STRATEGIC PLANS, NECESSARY PROGRAM INFRASTRUCTURE, AND TRAINED PROGRAM PERSONNEL TO ENABLE THIS REDUCTION IN GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS.
