THE MOMENTUM ACADEMY IS AN ACADEMIC AND THERAPEUTIC LEARNING CENTER THAT PARTNERS WITH FAMILIES TO ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO REALIZE THEIR FULL POTENTIAL IDENTITY AND VALUE. INDIVIDUALIZED CURRICULUM IS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR EACH STUDENT AND CARRIED OUT IN A LOW STUDENT TEACHER RATIO. THE MOMENTUM ACADEMY VIEWS EACH STUDENT HOLISTICALLY TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE ACADEMIC EMOTIONAL AND SPIRITUAL NEEDS OF EACH STUDENT.

DURING THE 2020-2021 FISCAL YEAR 22 STUDENTS WERE ENROLLED IN THE E320 PROJECT'S SCHOOL THE MOMENTUM ACADEMY. THESE STUDENTS EACH HAD AN INDIVIDUALIZED CURRICULUM DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR THEIR NEEDS. OUR STUDENTS SERVED HAD A DIAGNOSIS OF AT LEAST ONE OF THESE MEDICAL AND OR ACADEMIC CONDITIONS: AUTISM ADHD ADD ANXIETY AUDITORY PROCESSING DISORDER DYSCALCULIA DYSLEXIA DYSGRAPHIA EXECUTIVE FUNCTION DISORDER EXPRESSIVE LANGUAGE DISORDER AND SENSORY INTEGRATION DISORDER. THESE STUDENTS COMPLETED REQUIRED COURSEWORK FOR ACADEMIC COMPLETION IN A SETTING THAT IS CONDUCIVE TO THEIR SPECIFIC NEEDS WHICH COULD THEY ARE AT THE CORRECT ACADEMIC LEVEL. PARENTS HAVE ACCESS TO THEIR STUDENT'S PROGRESS 24 HOURS A DAY 7 DAYS A WEEK VIA A SECURE WEBSITE.NOT BE ACCOMPLISHED OUTSIDE OF THE MOMENTUM ACADEMY. STUDENTS ARE TAUGHT IN A LOW STAFF-STUDENT RATIO THE LARGEST CLASS BEING 1 TEACHER TO 7 STUDENTS. THIS LOW RATIO IS NOT AVAILABLE IN OTHER SCHOOLS IN OUR AREA. WE ARE MEETING AN UNMET NEED AND TAKE PRIDE IN IT. STUDENTS ARE ASSESSED ON AN ONGOING BASIS TO INSURE PROGRESS. OVER THE COURSE OF THE FISCAL YEAR SEVERAL OF OUR STUDENTS WERE TAUGHT THE NECESSARY SKILLS NEEDED TO BE TRANSITION BACK TO MAINSTREAM TRADITIONAL SCHOOLS IF THEY AND THEIR PARENTS CHOOSE SO DESIRED THAT OPTION. AFTER PARENT CONFERENCES WE HAD ONE STUDENT WANTING TO EARN HER WAY BACK TO PUBLIC SCHOOL TO TAKE CLASSES LIKE FFA AND VETERINARIAN. TWO OF OUR ALUMNI STUDENTS BOTH CONTINUED JUNIOR COLLEGES TAKING CLASSES TO MEET THEIR NEEDS AND INTERESTS. OTHER ALUMNI WE CONTINUE TO TRACK OUR ALUMNI AND REPORT BACK ON THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
PERCY IS A THERAPY DOG WHO TRAINED FOR 2.5 YEARS AT MADE IN TEXAS ASSISTANCE DOGS. HE HAS BEEN AT MOMENTUM ACADEMY FOR 6 YEARS. HE WORKS ALL DAY EVERY SCHOOL DAY AND IS A TOOL FOR EVERY STUDENT. HE MOVES FROM MATH TO SCIENCE TO READING THROUGHOUT THE DAY. HE IS HELPFUL IN REDUCING STUDENT AND STAFF ANXIETY AND WITH MANAGING BEHAVIOR.
EVERY STUDENT RECEIVES WEEKLY SOCIAL SKILLS TRAINING FROM LEAPS IN LANGUAGE. ALL FACILITATORS ARE LICENSED SPEECH PATHOLOGISTS. MANY SOCIAL STRIDES WERE MADE VIA THE CONTINUAL HELP OF SOCIAL SKILLS CLASSES AS WELL AS INFORMALLY. PARENTS AND EDUCATORS ALIKE COMMENT ON THE DIFFERENCE THAT OUR SCHOOL HAS MADE IN THEIR CHILD. IN FACT ONE PARENT SAID TMA HAS CHANGED THE ATMOSPHERE IN HER HOME AS CRYING AND YELLING HAS STOPPED. SCHOOL IS LOVED AND THEY LOOK FORWARD TO COMING DAILY. WE HAVE CONTINUED TO OFFER AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE I AND II FOR OUR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS NEEDING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE.
