Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
MISSION AND VISION NEWSONG COUNSELING CENTER OPENED IN THE SUMMER OF 2014. CATHY TURNER HAD A STRONG DESIRE TO SERVE RESIDENTS OF MONTGOMERY COUNTY AS WELL AS SURROUNDING AREAS. MOUNT STERLING, THE GATEWAY TO THE EAST, IS AT THE EDGE OF THE APPALACHIAN MOUNTAINS WHERE OFTENTIMES MENTAL AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTHCARE NEEDS GO UNTREATED FOR GENERATIONS. MOUNT STERLING, ITSELF, IS A SMALL TOWN WHERE EVERYONE KNOWS EVERYONE ELSE. TO LIVE AMONG FAMILIARITY, SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY, AND STRONG COMMUNITY AND STILL GO UNNOTICED IS OFTEN TO FEEL INVISIBLE AND/OR ISOLATED. NEWSONG COUNSELING CENTERS MISSION HAS BEEN CLEAR FROM THE BEGINNING - TO PROVIDE AFFORDABLE, PROFESSIONAL COUNSELING SERVICES WITH INTENTIONS TO EMPOWER, NURTURE AND EDUCATE INDIVIDUALS, COUPLES AND GROUPS. CATHY HAD DISCOVERED THAT FEW AFFORDABLE OPPORTUNITIES FOR COUNSELING EXISTED IN THE AREA, CAUSING MANY PEOPLE TO TRAVEL TO LEXINGTON OR FURTHER TO RECEIVE QUALITY SERVICES THAT WERE OFTEN MORE EXPENSIVE AND EVEN EXORBITANT.
