WE PROMOTE AND DEFEND QUALITY PUBLIC HIGHER EDUCATION BY WORKING TOGETHER TO UPHOLD THE UNIVERSITY OF OREGON'S ACADEMIC AND RESEARCH PRIORITIES. WE BELIEVE IN DEMOCRACY, FAIRNESS, TRANSPARENCY, ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE, DIVERSITY, ACCESS TO EDUCATION AND ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY. WE AIM TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF FACULTY WORK LIFE AND STUDENT EDUCATION BY NEGOTIATING OUR TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT.

WE COLLECTIVELY BARGAIN WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF OREGON WHICH, TYPICALLY, OCCUES EVERY THREE YEARS. BARGAINING IS CONDUCTED BY A PANEL OF UNIVERSITY FACULTY AND UNIVESRITY OF OREGON REPRESENTATIVES. PREPARING AND ENGAGING IN COLLECTIVE BARGINING CONSISTUTDES APPROXIMATELY 50% OF THE UNIONS ACTIVITIES. ENFORCEMENT OF THE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT IS AN ONGOING PROCESS WHICH TAKES APPROXIMATELY 35% OF UNION ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING THE ELECTED GROUP OF FACULTY MEMBERS WHO SERVE ON THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL AND MEET MONTHLY AT A MINIMIUM. OTHER ACTIVITIES INCLUDE WORKING TO IMPROVE EDUCATION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF OREGON. VARIOUS FACULTY MEETINGS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO DISCUSS HOW EDUCATION CAN BE BETTERED AT THE UNIVERSITY ACCOUNT FOR APPROXIMATELY 10% OF UNION ACTIVITY. THE REMAINING ACTIVITIES CONSISTS OF OUR WORK TO ALIGN WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS TO IMPROVE WORKING CONDITIONS FOR ALL WORKING OREGONIANS.
