TO EQUIP AND LEAD INDIVIDUALS, GROUPS, AGENCIES AND CHURCHES IN CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TO RECLAIM, RESTORE AND REBUILD THE LANDSCAPE OF POOR AND UNDER-RESOUCES NEIGHBORHOODS.

HOPE WORKS - VOLUNTEERS FACILITATED DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING FOR OVER 200 INMATES IN THE RICHMOND CITY JUSTICE CENTER. WE CONTINUE TO WALK WITH THEM AS THEY EXIT THE JAIL AND SEEK TO BE AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF SOCIETY. OVER THE LAST FOUR YEARS OVER 100 RICHMOND CITY JUSTICE CENTER RESIDENTS GRADUATED FROM THE JOBS FOR LIFE PROGRAM. IN ADDITION WE HOST DRIVES TO MEET THE EVERYDAY NEEDS OF 1,000 RICHMOND INMATES I.E. PERSONAL HYGIENE ITEMS, READING CLASSES AND BIBLES. HOPE WORKS ALSO INCLUDES WORK AT RECOVERY HOUSES FOR INDIVIDUALS THAT ARE IN RECOVERY.
OTHER INITIATIVES INCLUDE MARDI BRAS VA WHICH CONNECTS PEOPLE TO ORGANIZATIONS WHO SERVE WOMEN WHO ARE HOMELESS, INCARCERATED AND ON A LOW OR RESTRICTED INCOME, COMMUNICATE TO AND EDUCATE THE GENERAL PUBLIC ON THE PLIGHT OF WOMEN IN NEED AND COLLECT ITEMS TO GIVE TO ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE DIRECT SERVICE PROVIDERS TO THESE WOMEN IN NEED. WE COLLECTED THOUSANDS OF BRAS, UNDERWEAR, PADS AND TAMPONS WHO ARE IN NEED, SUCH AS WOMEN EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS, LOW OR NO INCOME AND INCARCERATED WOMEN. ALSO MINSITERING WITH INDIVIDUALS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOT OF SOUTHERN BARTON HEIGHTS, A COMMUNITY 1/2 MILE FROM THE LARGEST PUBLIC HOUSING COMPLEX IN RICHMOND, VA AND OTHERS OUTSIDE THE NEIGHBORHOOD. THIS INCLUDES WEEKLY FELLOWSHIP GATHERINGS IN SMALL GROUPS TO TALK ABOUT THINGS OF GOD, SHARE LIFE TOGETHER THROUGH PREPARING AND EATING A MEAL AND HELPING TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY. IT ALSO INCLUDES REGULAR ACTIVITIES HOSTED TO INCREASE TRUST, DEEPEN COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIPS AND STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION.
