THE MISSION OF THE PAN-AFRICAN FAMILY EMPOWERMENT & LAND PRESERVATION NETWORK IS BOTH SIMPLE AND COMPLEX IN ITS SCOPE. OUR PRIMARY GOAL IS TO PROVIDE PEOPLE OF AFRICAN DESCENT WITH THE EDUCATIONAL TECHNICAL AND FINANCIAL RESOURCES THEY NEED TO SUSTAIN LONG-TERM OWNERSHIP OF THEIR ANCESTRAL HOMES AND LAND. WE SEEK TO EMPOWER THEM TO MOVE BEYOND LEARNED DEPENDENCE ON PUBLIC ASSISTANCE AND FOREIGN AID AND TO BEGIN AMASSING GENERATIONAL WEALTH. WE'RE BEST KNOWN FOR OUR "HELP SAVE GULLAH GEECHEE LAND CAMPAIGN WHICH HAS PREVENTED THE LOSS OF PROPERTY VALUED AT MORE THAN $17-MILLION IN SC AND GA. OUR OTHER GOALS INCLUDE STRENGTHENING BLACK FAMILIES NETWORKING WITH AND SUPPORTING ORGANIZATIONS THAT UPLIFT BLACK PEOPLE AND PROMOTING GLOBAL PAN-AFRICAN UNITY.

Part 3

DURING 2020 PAFEN GAVE PROPERTY TAX ASSISTANCE TO GULLAH GEECHEE FAMILIES IN 8 SOUTH CAROLINA COUNTIES SAVING PROPERTY WITH AN ASSESSED VALUE OF MORE THAN $9-MILLION. PROPERTY WAS KEPT FROM GOING TO DELINQUENT TAX SALES AS WELL AS REDEEMED AFTER TAX AUCTIONS.


IN OUR FIRST INTERNATIONAL OUTREACH PROJECT GRANT TO A U.S. NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION PAFEN AWARDED $2,500 TO THE MARSHVIEW COMMUNITY ORGANIC FARM ON ST. HELENA ISLAND SC. THE MARSHVIEW COMMUNITY ORGANIC FARM TEACHES ORGANIC FARMING METHODS TO ASPIRING YOUNG FARMERS FROM LOW-INCOME GULLAH FAMILIES AS WELL AS MEMBERS OF THE YOUNG FARMERS OF THE LOWCOUNTRY. IT ALSO EDUCATES THEM ABOUT THE PROCESS OF FARM TO TABLE AGRICULTURE THROUGH PROGRAMMING THAT INTERFACES WITH ACADEMIC SUCCESS NUTRITION STUDIES CULINARY SKILLS DEVELOPMENT AND FOOD AND BEVERAGE SERVICE TRAINING THAT CAN LEAD TO BUSINESS OWNERSHIP IN THE FUTURE.


AN ANONYMOUS DONOR REQUESTED THAT 2020 PROPERTY TAXES BE PAID FOR A BEAUFORT SC RESIDENT WHO APPEARED ON A BROADCAST OF"MATTER OF FACT WITH SOLEDAD O'BRIEN" THAT EXPOSED THE BATTLE TO SAVE GULLAH LAND IN BEAUFORT COUNTY SC. IN ADDITION THE DONOR ASKED THAT THAT PERSON ALSO RECEIVE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO HELP GET BACK ON HER FEET.
