TO SCALE UP THE AVAILABILITY OF LIFE-SAVING CARDIAC SURGERY TO HAITIAN CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS.

Part 3 - Line 4a
PATIENT CARE EXPENSES. IN CERTAIN CASES, HCA GOES BEYOND A LOGISTICAL ROLE AND TAKES DIRECT RESPONSIBILITY FOR CERTAIN ASPECTS OF PATIENTS' MEDICAL CARE. THIS MAY INCLUDE DIRECTLY FINANCING THEIR SURGERIES; PROCURING MEDICINES AND BLOOD PRODUCTS; ARRANGEMENT OF MEDICAL TESTING; AND NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT.
DIRECT SURGICAL MATCHING AND TRAVEL ACCOMPANIMENT OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS WITH HEART DISEASE. DURING FY22, HAITI CARDIAC ALLIANCE DIRECTLY FACILITATED SURGERY FOR 42 PATIENTS, ALL OF WHOM TRAVELED TO OTHER COUNTRIES FOR LIFE-SAVING OPEN HEART SURGERIES AND/OR CATHETER INTERVENTIONS.
DIAGNOSIS, SCREENING, AND FOLLOW-UP. HCA PERFORMS OUTPATIENT CARDIOLOGY CLINICS AT MULTIPLE SITES THROUGHOUT HAITI FOR PATIENTS WHO NEED INITIAL DIAGNOSIS, CHECK-UP, AND/OR POST-OPERATIVE FOLLOW-UP. IN ADDITION, HCA CURRENTLY EMPLOYS HAITI'S ONLY FULL-TIME CARDIAC ECHOCARDIOGRAPHER, WHO SEES PATIENTS ON A DAILY BASIS. DURING THE FISCAL YEAR, HCA FACILITATED THE DIAGNOSIS AND/OR OUTPATIENT FOLLOW-UP OF NEARLY 1000 PATIENTS.
