THE ASSOCIATION'S MISSION IS TO ENGAGE IN HEALTH POLICY AND ADVOCACY ACTIVITIES TO PROMOTE MENTALLY HEALTHY CHILDREN, ADOLESCENTS, AND FAMILIES AND THE PROFESSION OF CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRY.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS:AACAP GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS IS RESPONSIBLE FOR EDUCATING CONGRESS, THE ADMINISTRATION, AND GOVERNMENT AGENCIES AT THE FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL LEVEL ON ISSUES AFFECTING CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRY AND CHILDREN'S MENTAL HEALTH. WE ALSO EDUCATE OUR MEMBERS ABOUT PERTINENT LEGISLATION AND REGULATIONS IMPACTING THEIR PRACTICES AND PATIENTS. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH FACE-TO-FACE TRAINING AND TIMELY ADVOCACY COMMUNICATIONS, INCLUDING OUR AACAP ADVOCACY UPDATES, LEGISLATIVE ALERTS, AND INTERACTIONS WITH OUR REGIONAL ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
