CONSTRUCTION OF 2 CONCRETE CISTERNS IN MORNE CHRETIEN, HAITI, AN AREA WITH NO WATER SOURCE. THE CISTERNS COLLECT AND STORE WATER USED IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF A CHURCH BUILDING AND WILL BE USED IN FURTHER CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS IN THE AREA. ONCE THE CHURCH BUILDING IS COMPLETE, THERE WILL BE A LOT MORE ROOF AREA TO COLLECT EVEN MORE RAINWATER.
SHARED EXPENSES WITH BELGIUM NGO "JOIN FOR WATER". PROJECTS INCLUDE WATERSHED PROTECTION, IRRIGATION INFRASTRUCTURE, AND FOOD SECURITY. WE ARE INSTALLING CONCRETE IRRIGATION CANALS, AND REHABILITATING & BUILDING PUMPING STATIONS. THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT IS SUSTAINABLE FOOD SECURITY SO PEOPLE CAN GROW THEIR OWN FOOD AFTER PROJECT IS FINISHED.
HAND DUG WELLS- HAND DIGGING DRINKING WATER & IRRIGATION WELLS BY HAND USING CYLINDRICAL FORMS AND POURING CONCRETE AROUND THEM TO KEEP THE SIDES FROM CAVING IN. MEN CONTINUE TO DIG, MOVE THE FORM AND POUR CONCRETE UNTIL WATER IS REACHED. THESE WELLS CAN BE UP TO 75' DEEP.
