PATIENT CARE MONTEFIORE NEW ROCHELLE HOSPITAL IS A 242-BED, COMMUNITY BASED TEACHING HOSPITAL OFFERING PRIMARY, ACUTE AND EMERGENCY CARE TO THE RESIDENTS OF SOUTHERN WESTCHESTER. SINCE ITS BEGINNING, MONTEFIORE NEW ROCHELLE HOSPITAL HAS PROVIDED FOR THE DIVERSE MEDICAL NEED OF THE COMMUNITIES THAT IT SERVES. MONTEFIORE NEW ROCHELLE OFFERS A NUMBER OF LEADING-EDGE SERVICES AND PROGRAMS THAT HAVE EARNED DISTINCTION BY STATE AND NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS FOR ACHIEVING AND MAINTAINING THE HIGHEST QUALITY OF CARE WITHIN THE SPECIALTY, INCLUDING: DESIGNATED AS A CENTER OF EXCELLENCE BY THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF METABOLIC AND BARIATRIC SURGERY, A NEW YORK STATE-DESIGNATED STROKE CENTER AND A NEW YORK STATE-DESIGNATED AREA TRAUMA CENTER, THE ONLY ONE IN SOUTHERN WESTCHESTER. MONTEFIORE NEW ROCHELLE IS A NEW YORK STATE-DESIGNATED PERINATAL HOSPITAL WITH A LEVEL 3 NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT THAT PROVIDES STATE-OF-THE-ART CARE FOR FRAGILE NEWBORNS AND IS THE RECIPIENT OF THE GOLD SEAL OF APPROVAL FROM THE JOINT COMMISSION AS A CERTIFIED CENTER OF EXCELLENCE IN BOTH HIP AND KNEE JOINT REPLACEMENT. MONTEFIORE NEW ROCHELLE HOSPITAL, PART OF THE MONTEFIORE HEALTH SYSTEM, THE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL SYSTEM FOR THE ALBERT EINSTEIN COLLEGE OF MEDICINE, IS THE ONLY HOSPITAL IN THE CITY OF NEW ROCHELLE. IN 2021, MONTEFIORE NEW ROCHELLE HOSPITAL UNVEILED AN EXPANDED AND RECONFIGURED EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT, A RENOVATED AND UPGRADED RADIOLOGY DEPARTMENT AND A NEWLY CONSTRUCTED MONTEFIORE MEDICAL GROUP HEALTH CENTER. THE COMPREHENSIVE $44.3 MILLION CAMPUS PROJECT WAS FIVE YEARS IN THE MAKING AND WILL HELP US DELIVER ON OUR MISSION OF PROVIDING INNOVATIVE HEALTHCARE FROM WORLD CLASS LEADERS WHILE ADVANCING HEALTH EQUITY AND ACCESS IN THE COMMUNITY. DURING 2021, MONTEFIORE NEW ROCHELLE HOSPITAL WAS AGAIN AT THE FOREFRONT OF THE FIGHT AGAINST THE RESURGENT WAVES OF THE COVID-19 VIRUS THAT HAS CONTINUED RELENTLESSLY THROUGHOUT 2021. OUR COVID ADMISSIONS GROW AS EACH NEW WAVES OF THE VIRUS SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY CAUSING IMMENSE SUFFERING AND VOLUMES OF DEATHS IN ITS WAKE. MONTEFIORE NEW ROCHELLE HOSPITAL HAD PARTNERED WITH THE CITY OF NEW ROCHELLE TO OPERATE A WALK-IN COVID-19 TESTING CENTER TO ENSURE THAT TESTING WAS ACCESSIBLE TO THE MOST VULNERABLE HARDEST-HIT PORTION OF OUR COMMUNITY. AT THE HEIGHT OF THE RESURGENT OF THE VIRUS IN 2021, MONTEFIORE NEW ROCHELLE HOSPITAL DAILY ADMISSIONS INCLUDED OVER 54 CRITICALLY ILL PATIENTS BEING TREATED FOR COVID RELATED ILLNESSES.
MEDICAL AND NURSING EDUCATION THE DEPARTMENT OF MEDICINE AT NEW ROCHELLE HOSPITAL OFFERS TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR RESIDENTS AND STUDENTS THAT REFLECTS A DEEP INSTITUTIONAL AND DEPARTMENTAL COMMITMENT TO MEDICAL EDUCATION IN A SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY-BASED ENVIRONMENT THAT PROVIDES A FULL SPECTRUM OF CARE TO A DIVERSE PATIENT POPULATION. MONTEFIORE IS THE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL FOR ALBERT EINSTEIN COLLEGE OF MEDICINE, ONE OF THE NATION'S PREMIER INSTITUTIONS FOR MEDICAL EDUCATION, BASIC RESEARCH AND CLINICAL INVESTIGATIONS.
