OUR FREE HOT MEAL PROGRAM PROVIDES A COMPLETE NUTRITIOUS MEAL 365 DAYS PER YEAR TO ALL PERSONS REGARDLESS OF THEIR RACE, RELIGION, SEX, COLOR, AGE, SEXUAL ORIENTATION OR NATIONAL ORIGIN. MEALS ARE PREPARED AND SERVED BY VOLUNTEERS WORKING AT ONE OF TWO MEAL SITES KITCHEN AND DINING AREAS PROVIDED BY TWO LOCAL CHURCHES. BECAUSE OF COVID-19, ALL MEALS IN 2021 WERE SERVED TAKE-AWAY ONLY. AS PART OF OUR RESPONSE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, WE PREPARED EXTRA FOOD AT ONE SITE THAT WAS TAKEN TO BE SERVED SIMULTANEOUSLY AT THE HYGIENE CENTER, CO-LOCATED WITH THE MENS COLD WEATHER SHELTER IN CORVALLIS, FOUR DAYS A WEEK. WE PREPARED 31,636 MEALS AVERAGING 86.7 MEALS PER DAY.
WE PROVIDED FREE CATERED MEALS AT A DRIVE-IN SITE IN SOUTH CORVALLIS FIRST AT THE SOUTH CORVALLIS FOOD BANK AND LATER AT THIRD STREET COMMONS, THREE TIMES A WEEK. THIS PROGRAM WAS DESIGNED TO BE FAMILY-FRIENDLY DURING THE ECONOMIC STRESS OF THE PANDEMIC. WE SERVED 10,378 FREE MEALS PREPARED BY A CATERER IN 2021, BOOSTING OUR AVERAGE MEALS SERVED PER DAY FOR THE WHOLE ORGANIZATION TO 115.
