AS THE COMMUNITY'S OFFICIAL DESTINATION MANAGEMENT AND MARKETING ORGANIZATION, VISIT BIG SKY LEADS THE DEVELOPMENT AND PROMOTION OF AUTHENTIC TOURISM EXPERIENCES THROUGH RESEARCH AND STAKEHOLDER COLLABORATION TO GROW BIG SKY'S ECONOMY WHILE BALANCING THE NEED TO SUSTAIN QUALITY OF LIFE FOR ITS RESIDENTS.

VISIT BIG SKY NOT ONLY MARKETS THE COMMUNITY OF BIG SKY TO OUTDOOR ADVENTURERS AROUND THE WORLD, BUT IT'S FOCUS IN 2022 WAS DESTINATION MANAGEMENT. COVID AND THE POPULARITY OF THE TV SHOW YELLOWSTONE, BIG SKY HAS BECOME A VERY POPULAR DESTINATION. THE WORK OF OUR OFFICE IS TO LESSEN THE IMPACT OF THE VISITOR ECONOMY AND FIND WAYS TO EDUCATE OUR VISITORS AS WELL AS OUR RESIDENTS ON TREATING BIG SKY WITH RESPECT. OUR BUSINESS COMMUNITY CONTINUES TO FEEL THE STRAIN OF BIG SKY'S POPULARITY. VISIT BIG SKY HAS DONE AN EXCELLENT JOB COLLECTING THE DATA THAT HAS LED TO A NUMBER OF REALIZATIONS. AN EXAMPLE OF THAT WAS THE ACKNOWLEDGMENT THAT OUR HOUSING ISSUES IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE NUMBER OF SHORT-TERM RENTALS IN BIG SKY. THE VISIT BIG SKY TEAM IS DEDICATED TO SOLVING TOURISM CHALLENGES WITH DATA THAT EXPLAINS THE CHALLENGES OUR COMMUNITY FACES. OUR MARKETING CAMPAIGNS HAVE BEEN FOCUSED ON BRINGING FORMER VISITORS TO BIG SKY. BESIDES THE COST SAVINGS OF GOING AFTER AN "EXISTING CUSTOMER" WE'VE ALSO FOCUSED ON KEY TARGETED DESTINATIONS WHERE OUR VISITORS COME FROM. THIS YEAR'S FOCUS WAS ON DALLAS, NEW YORK, MINNEAPOLIS, LOS ANGELES, ATLANTA AND SEATTLE. OUR PROXIMITY TO YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK WAS ONE OF THE MAJOR AREAS OF FOCUS HIGHLIGHTING THAT BIG SKY IS ONLY ONE HOUR NORTH OF THE WEST ENTRANCE TO YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK SO WE FOCUSED OUR MESSAGING ON STAYING IN BIG SKY AND TRAVEL THE SCENIC ONE HOUR DRIVE TO EXPLORE THE PARK.
