THE EXTRA-TOUGHS IS AN EXCITING PROGRAM FOUNDED BY LET EVERY WOMAN KNOW-ALASKA TO PROVIDE AN INTEGRATIVE TEAM APPROACH TO SUSTAINABLE WEIGHT LOSS, HEALTHY LIFESTYLE, AND SURVIVORSHIP FOR GYNECOLOGIC CANCER AND BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS. THIS GROUP IS LIMITED TO WOMEN WHO FIT THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA: 1.) DIAGNOSED WITH A BREAST AND OR GYNECOLOGIC CANCER. 2.) COMPLETED PRIMARY TREATMENT (I.E. SURGERY, CHEMO, RADIATION) 3.) BODY MASS INDEX (BMI) = 30. THIS PROGRAM INCLUDES CUSTOM DESIGNED GROUP FITNESS EXERCISE THREE-TIMES A WEEK; WEEKLY SUPPORT GROUPS WITH FELLOW EXTRA-TOUGHS TO ADDRESS SUCCESSES AND CHALLENGES TOGETHER AND WEEKLY NUTRITION CLASSES TO LEARN HEALTHY EATING HABITS. IN FALL OF 2022, THE EXTRA-TOUGHS PROGRAM TRANSITIONED TO NEW LEADERSHIP, WITH THE WEL NONPROFIT STARTING AND TAKING OVER MANAGEMENT.
EDUCATION & SPEAKERS, SUPPORT GROUPS & RETREAT EXPENSES, LEADING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE CAMPAIGN, HOLIDAY WITH A HEART, THE 10TH ANNUAL GYNECOLOGIC CANCER AWARENESS & ARTS OF HEALING WEEKEND, AND ONCOLOGY MASSAGE.
IN 2022 THE ANY MOUNTAIN PROJECT BLOSSOMED WITH A FOCUS ON CREATIVE EXPRESSION TO OVERCOME OVARIAN CANCER. WE ARE RAISING AWARENESS ABOUT OVARIAN CANCER THROUGH MUSIC, DANCE, AND AN APP ENCOURAGING EVERYONE TO LEARN ABOUT THEIR FAMILY CANCER HISTORIES SO THEY CAN RECOGNIZE RISKS EARLY AND TAKE STEPS TO SAVE THEIR FUTURE. WE ALSO BEGAN RAISING MONEY TO SUPPORT THE ANY MOUNTAIN EXPEDITION TEAM, A UNIQUE GROUP OF LEADING OVARIAN CANCER SPECIALISTS FROM ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES, AS THEY DEVELOP METHODS OF EARLY DETECTION AND PREVENTION.
THE 15TH ANNUAL ALYESKA CLIMBATHON WENT VIRTUAL AND TOOK PLACE ON SEPTEMBER 10TH, 2022. 200 DEDICATED CLIMBERS HIT THE MOUNTAIN! A HEARTFELT THANK YOU TO OUR EVENT PARTNER ALYESKA RESORT, EVENT SPONSORS: ADVANCED ONCOLOGY ASSOCIATES, ALASKA CYBERKNIFE CENTER, DIMOND VISION CLINIC AND MOOSE'S/BROKE/BEARTOOTH, AND ALL THE CLIMBERS AND GENEROUS DONORS WHO HELPED RAISE $85,000. 100% OF FUNDS STAY IN THE STATE OF ALASKA WITH 25% GOING TO THE GIRDWOOD HEALTH CLINIC ($19,460) AND 75% TO LET EVERY WOMAN KNOW-ALASKA TO FURTHER OUR MISSION OF GYNECOLOGIC CANCER AWARENESS AND SUPPORT FOR ALASKAN WOMEN AND FAMILIES FACED WITH A GYN CANCER DIAGNOSIS.
