ELK RIVER ARTS & LECTURES (ERAL) WAS FOUNDED TO FACILITATE AN ONGOING LECTURE AND READING SERIES IN LIVINGSTON, MONTANA, AND SURROUNDING RURAL COMMUNITIES. WRITERS ARE BROUGHT IN TO READ AND/OR LECTURE FOR THE BENEFIT OF BOTH THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND LOCAL SCHOOLCHILDREN. THERE ARE SEVERAL AUTHOR PROGRAMS EACH YEAR, HELD EITHER IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS OR IN A NEARBY CONFERENCE FACILITY. THE MOST SIGNIFICANT EVENT IS A WORKSHOP HELD IN AUGUST, WHERE SEVERAL AUTHORS SPEAK AND LEAD WORKSHOPS.

THE ORGANIZATION HOSTS SMALL LECTURES/WORKSHOPS. EXPENSES INCLUDE SMALL HONORARIUMS FOR GUEST LECTURERS, AS WELL AS THEIR TRAVEL, LODGING AND MEALS EXPENSES. EACH AUGUST A WRITERS WORKSHOP IS HELD WHERE STUDENTS FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY GATHER IN PARADISE VALLEY TO SPEND A WEEK WORKING WITH A RENOWNED FACULTY OF NATURE WRITERS. THE WORKSHOP INCLUDES READINGS AND PANEL DISCUSSIONS THAT ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC FOR FREE, AND CULMINATES IN A GALA PROGRAM THAT IS A TICKETED EVENT. AT 12/31/2021, TUTION AND FEES OF 36,416 HAVE BEEN COLLECTED FOR THE AUGUST 2022 WORKSHOP, AND ARE SEPERATLEY DISCLOSED AS DEFERRED REVENUE ON THE BALANCE SHEET.
