THE ORGANIZATION WAS A TRADE ASSOCIATION OF PROFESSIONAL BUILDERS, DEVELOPERS & ASSOCIATED FIRMS & INDIVIDUALS ENGAGED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY IN HOME BUILDING.

IN AUGUST 2016, THE HBA WAS EFFECTIVELY DISSOLVED & THEIR CHARTER WITH NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF HOME BUILDERS WAS REVOKED. IN THE CURRENT PERIOD, THERE WAS ONLY ONE RECEIPT WHICH WAS A REFUND OF LIABILITY INSURANCE PAID. THE EXPENDITURES WERE LIMITED TO A 6-MONTH POST OFFICE BOX RENTAL, PAYMENTS FOR BOOKKEEPING & TAX PREPARATION, AND FINALLY DONATIONS TO 3 LOCAL NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS TO DISTRIBUTE REMAINING CASH AND TO CLOSE BANK ACCOUNT. ACTIVITY BASICALLY CEASED FOLLOWING THE MARCH 2015 HOME SHOW. THE DRIVING FORCE OF THE HBA WAS A KEY VOLUNTEER MEMBER WHO BEGAN TO SUFFER WITH POOR HEALTH. HE BECAME INACTIVE & AS A RESULT THERE WAS NO MEMBER OR VOLUNTEER THAT STEPPED UP TO TAKE THE MEMBERS PLACE. THERE WAS A WRITTEN PLEA FOR MEMBER INVOLVEMENT SENT TO THE MEMBERS BY MAIL IN SEPTEMBER 2015 BUT THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. TWO MORE WRITTEN PLEAS WERE MADE IN JANUARY 2016 & MARCH 2016 BUT NO RESPONSE WAS RECEIVED. NOTIFICATION TO NAHB & HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION OF VIRGINIA OF THE INTENT TO DISSOLVE WAS MADE ON 6/27/2016 AND 7/1/2016 AND WAS ACCEPTED.
